The last three matches in this round of Super League games take place on Sunday afternoon and two of them are to be live streamed on the Sky Sports website and iPad app which is an advantage for us punters.
The three matches sees Halifax hosting Leigh and Salford welcoming Sheffield to the AJ Bell Stadium in the qualifiers with the latter on the live streaming and in the Super 8s Huddersfield look to keep their top spot hopes alive when they entertain Warrington.
Leigh and Salford are both big favourites with the bookmakers and that is understandable and these qualifying matches are beginning to get a little one sided so I would expect both to come through unscathed but I’m not one for taking massive handicaps on road teams so that rules Leigh out and the Salford cap is a little too high for comfort.
From a betting point of view I’m going to focus on the Super 8s match where I think Huddersfield should be giving Warrington more than they are.
Huddersfield are in great form and they are full of motivation to keep that form going ahead of the playoffs which are really looming large on the horizon. Paul Anderson has named an unchanged squad from the one which took care of Castleford last week which is no surprise.
Warrington picked up a rare win over an injured ravaged Hull side last week but that was a rare high point in an awful season for the Wolves. They welcome Ashton Sims back for this match but I’m not sure even he will inspire them to a win here. Warrington can’t be all that motivated given that their season is done and that’s a big concern.
I’m big on motivation at this stage of the season but Huddersfield aren’t just more motivated they are the better side as well and I expect them to show that by being a couple of scores too good for Warrington here.
Back Huddersfield (-6) to beat Warrington for a 4/10 stake at 1.91 with Stan James
