The last of the three live matches from the Super League this week comes along on Saturday when the Catalans Dragons play host to the Salford Red Devils in what could be a defining night for the home side.
A win for the Dragons in this one will guarantee their Super League status for next season and allow them to concentrate fully on the Challenge Cup. Salford are condemned to the qualifiers already to be here for next year.
Catalans Dragons
It took an absolute age for this Catalans Dragons side to come to the boil this season. In many ways the Challenge Cup came along for them at a good time as it allowed them to build some confidence and they now go into this match having won 10 of their last 12 matches in the Super League. One more win here and they will be secure in the big time for next season.
One issue Catalans had early in the season was their inability to score points but they have certainly sorted that out in recent times. They were struggling at home to begin with which was a surprise as that was their strength in past seasons. They are flying at home now though and will be full of confidence heading in here.
Salford Red Devils
After a brilliant first part of the campaign last season optimism was high on the field at least for Salford this term but they have never really managed to get anything going which is a surprise. Injuries have certainly not helped them but I would imagine behind closed doors if you asked them they would still be disappointed with what they have produced even allowing for that.
Scoring has been the big issue for the Red Devils. They are the lowest scorers in Super League and you get the feeling the loss of Michael Dobson at the end of last season was felt bigger than they expected it might have been. Only three sides have shipped more points than them too which highlights their struggles.
Team News
Catalans have made just the one change to their squad for this match with Jodie Broughton coming in Mickael Goudemand. All eyes will be on Josh Drinkwater whose arrival really spurred the Dragons into life.
Salford Red Devils have full-back Niall Evalds back for this match after he has recovered from an injury which kept him on the sidelines for two months. His return will be important as Salford are struggling for numbers, as evidenced by Craig Kopczak being in the squad.

Betting
I think this will be a home win. The question is how big a win it will be and I think the answer will be by a pretty decent margin. Catalans Dragons are absolutely flying at the minute. They are piling up the points and have shown a stubbornness and difficulty to break down unlike their opponents who can’t score at the minute and are leaking like a sieve.
Catalans are being asked to give up 18pts in this match which I don’t think is asking too much. The number of first team players Salford are missing make them very vulnerable and in France where the Dragons roar at their strongest I’m expecting a big home win here.
