Super League XXIII – Friday 20th July Matches Betting Preview

Three matches take place in the Super League on Friday evening with many implications on the line on what could be a defining night of action in the leading division in the country. With matches running out in the first stage of the campaign each game carries plenty of significance.

We have a TV match which is the big derby between the Castleford Tigers and the Huddersfield Giants and there are many ways to keep up to date with the other two matches on what looks like a good evening. We’ll begin with the TV match.

Castleford Tigers vs Huddersfield Giants

The big match of the night sees the Castleford Tigers hosting the Huddersfield Giants in a match which is not just a derby clash but one which also contains plenty of implications within the Super League table too.

A win for the home side would move them into the top two in the table and would put them on course for a home semi-final while a win for the Giants would guarantee they will be playing Super League again next season so this is a big game for both sides.

The Tigers look to be in the sort of form that will allow them to get the job done but when Huddersfield are fighting for something as big as survival I certainly don’t see them lying down without a fight. Huddersfield are in good form having won four of their last five matches and with the two converted tries on their side in the handicap I think they are the team to be with.

Hull KR vs Warrington Wolves

Hull KR are fighting hard to retain their Super League status and need to beat the Warrington Wolves if they are to keep their hopes of avoiding the qualifiers alive. The Wolves are beginning to fade away from the top three and could do with a win to get them back on track.

Hull KR have been showing some decent form in recent times but at some point I’m expecting Warrington to click back into gear so six points looks a dangerous handicap. I wouldn’t be surprised if that is enough for Hull KR but at the same time I wouldn’t be surprised if Warrington cover it so I’ll sit this one out.

Leeds Rhinos vs Widnes Vikings

It is do or die time for the Leeds Rhinos on Friday night. They go into the evening knowing they have to win their last two matches and hope that results go their way if they are to guarantee staying in Super League. Widnes have been resigned to the qualifiers for a while now and will aim to ruin Leeds’ season further.

Leeds are without a win in nine matches and you have to go back 15 Super League opponents for the last time Widnes won a match so the only thing that can be predicted in this match is the potential for unpredictability and that is never the sort of match I want to be involved in so I’m happy to sit this one out.
