There are three matches in the Super League on Friday evening as the elite league returns after the excitement of the challenge fixtures down under. We have one match on TV on Friday and two others which are away from the cameras.
All eyes will be on the Wigan Warriors to see how they have recovered from their exertions in Australia. They take on the Warrington Wolves in front of the cameras and we will begin our preview with that.
Warrington Wolves vs Wigan Warriors
Warrington Wolves will look to build on their opening win of the season at the Widnes Vikings last week when they entertain a potentially jet lagged Wigan Warriors who will be looking to extend their 100% record in the Super League.
After two indifferent defeats to begin the campaign the Wolves got back on track last week and they will hope to kick on from there. With a couple of players back and a bit of renewed confidence the Wolves should be tough to beat here.
It goes without saying that the Wigan Warriors will be understrength here both in personnel and physically. There’s no Joe Burgess or Dan Sarginson for Wigan in this match whereas Tyrone Roberts is back for the Wolves and Sitaleki Akauola is set to make his Warrington debut.
I’m going down the path of Wigan struggling in this match and if that is the case I think the Warrington Wolves are good things to not just win here but also to cover a couple of points in the process.

Huddersfield Giants vs St Helens
Arguably the match of the evening could be the one at the John Smith’s Stadium as the Huddersfield Giants look to build on their victory over the Warrington Wolves last time out when they host a St Helens team who still have a 100% record.
I thought St Helens were the real deal before a ball was kicked this season and I’ve seen nothing to suggest that is not the case but I respect the Giants at home. Both sides have had two weeks to prepare for this game. I expect Saints to win but they are being asked to give up eight points which sounds about right to me.
Salford Red Devils vs Hull KR
Two sides who were tipped to struggle this season meet at the AJ Bell Stadium when the Salford Red Devils take on Hull KR. The Red Devils are still winless this season while Hull KR picked up a win over the Catalans Dragons last week and will be aiming to build on that here.
I fear for Salford this season and this feels like a big match for them. They have had a couple of weeks off to work out where they are going wrong and put things right and if they are going to stay up you feel they have to win this match.
Hull KR may see it as equally important but they have suffered a blow with the news that Danny Maguire is out injured. I get the sense that this will be a tense and nervy night and those sorts of matches are not ones I want to get involved in.
