Super League returns on Thursday evening with one match from the competition as the Super 8s continue with a big looking match for the Warrington Wolves. They play host to Hull FC and will be eager to get back to winning ways.
Both sides will have harboured hopes for a tilt at the Grand Final when the season begun but that only really looks like still being an option for the Wolves. Two points here would certainly help with that quest.
Warrington Wolves
You have to appreciate that the Warrington Wolves have it tough here. In fairness once they made it to the Challenge Cup final this was going to be a tough assignment regardless. Backing up a final and all the emotions and expanded energy that goes with it five days later was never going to be easy but when you consider they lost that final getting themselves up for this got a whole lot tougher. It will take a huge effort from the backroom staff to have Warrington in good shape here.
The saving grace for Warrington is that they have a four point buffer on fifth place with just five matches remaining. That sounds like a good situation but were they to lose here and Huddersfield win later in the weekend it becomes squeaky bum time. The Wolves could really do with a result here no matter how tough it is.
Hull FC
When Hull FC look back on the season when it is over they will reflect on a nightmare run with injuries. They are they kind if side who could always cope with that but no team has the capabilities of dealing with what they have been hit with. They have had to use their entire academy and even bring players out of retirement just to cope this season. With all that in mind just ensuring they will be playing Super League next season is a fine effort.
Mathematically Hull FC can still make the semi-finals and a win here would strengthen those hopes but realistically they are playing out the season from here on in. Off the back of two weeks without a game their fans will hope they are refreshed enough to be able to give the ball some air and entertain as well as putting up a big performance. If they can do that there is no reason why they can’t come away with the win.
Team News
Warrington will naturally make changes to their side and it would appear that Ben Murdoch-Masila is one who will be left out. Ben Pomeroy is expected to come in for him while Bodene Thompson is also included.
The injury list for Hull FC is showing no sign of disappearing. Mark Minichello, Chris Green and Marc Sneyd have all joined it now while leaves the Black and Whites a little thin on the ground.

Betting
There is no doubt that Hull FC and their injury list is concerning but that has to be balanced out by Warrington going again just five days after their cup disappointment. It wasn’t as though the cup game was an easy day at the office either. It was physically demanding against a strong pack on a hot day.
Whether Hull FC have enough in their squad to win this match I would have my doubts but they are getting a 12 point start from the layers and that looks big to me. Given the short turnaround Warrington will most likely be happy with a win without running up the score so a patched up Hull FC team can remain within a dozen in my eyes.
