The second round of Super League matches begins on Thursday evening and it is a big set of games too as for the first time ever the elite competition will see matches staged in England and Australia.
The Australian leg of the week comes later in the weekend. Thursday evening sees two matches with one of them in front of the TV cameras and the other with undoubtedly plenty of social media updates. We’ll begin with the TV game.
Leeds Rhinos vs Hull KR
With Headingley still being refurbished the defending champions Leeds Rhinos will play their first home match at Elland Road and they will take on the newly promoted side Hull KR who will be desperate to prove their worth at this level after a bit of a hiding by Wakefield last week.
The match will be all about Danny Maguire taking on the club he made his name with for so long but in reality I think this could be a long night for the half-back. Leeds looked the business at Warrington last week with their attack looking potent and their defence as tight as ever. On the flip side of that Hull KR really struggled to impose themselves on Wakefield Trinity.
Ashton Golding is back for the Rhinos to give them more options for this encounter although it is hard to see where he gets into the side and that shows the gulf that KR are up against. I’m expecting a big Leeds win here.

Huddersfield Giants vs Warrington Wolves
Two sides who were well beaten in their opening matches meet at the John Smith’s Stadium when the Huddersfield Giants take on the Warrington Wolves. Both sides will be desperate to get up and running here so this one should be competitive.
I didn’t think a whole lot to the Wolves last week albeit they were up against stiff opposition while Huddersfield were blown away by Hull FC. Who responds the best to the defeat last week will probably win this but that is guesswork and that puts me off getting involved in the game.
