Super League XXV – Sunday 1st March Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The latest round of matches in the Super League concludes on Sunday afternoon when the final three games take place. We’ve seen a couple of one-sided beatings this week already so it will be interesting to see if that trend continues.

Unfortunately the televised action this week has finished so we are restricted to the social media feeds and radio commentaries to keep up to date with what should be some wonderful Sunday afternoon action.

Huddersfield Giants vs Wigan Warriors

One of the matches to take place on Sunday afternoon sees the Huddersfield Giants looking to preserve their unbeaten record when they play host to the former champions Wigan Warriors in what is the pick of the games.

Wigan might not be unbeaten this season after their loss to the Castleford Tigers, but they are playing well enough to be in the upper echelons of the league. You could argue that the Huddersfield Giants haven’t played anyone perceived to be tough opposition this season yet, but you can never have a go at a team who for winning games. I would expect Wigan to win here but I’ve had reservations over their attack all season so far and I don’t really want to take on the Giants either so I’ll sit this one out.

Hull FC vs Catalans Dragons

Two mid-table sides meet at the KCOM Stadium when Hull FC host the Catalans Dragons in a match in which both outfits will be eager to get the two points and kick their campaign into life in a pleasing manner.

Catalans have only played two matches this season due to postponements so they are entitled to think their term hasn’t really got going yet whereas Hull FC have had a full set of games but haven’t really managed to find the consistency they would have wanted thus far. I’ve not seen enough of the Dragons to make a commitment in this match either way, so I’m happy enough to sit this one out as well.

Salford Red Devils vs Wakefield Trinity

Two of the bottom four meet at the AJ Bell Stadium when the beaten finalists of last season, Salford Red Devils, take on the Wakefield Trinity in a match both sides will be keen to win to pull away from the danger of the bottom spot in the table.

Both teams have just one win to their name to date, with Wakefield having played one match fewer than their opponents here. It is Salford that I like in this one though. I grant you it isn’t ideal that they have lost their last two matches but they’ve been beaten by Huddersfield and Leeds and they don’t look like terrible results right now. Wakefield haven’t looked anything special to me this season, especially away from home and while this isn’t as good a Salford side as the one which made the Grand Final, I do believe it is good enough to see off Trinity with a bit to spare.
