The third day of the rivals week set of matches in the Super League comes along on Saturday when we have another two derby clashes being played out in the competition, on what should be a feisty day of action.
Sky seem to have got stuck into the rivalry element of the week and are showing another game on Saturday. That is the early kick off which is the Hull derby. The later kick off isn’t on TV but the usual ways of following will be available.
Hull FC vs Hull KR (15.00 – Sky Sports Action)
The opening match of the day sees the Hull derby being played out at what is likely to be a raucous MKM Stadium as Hull FC host their rivals from across the city Hull KR in a match that could be massive for the postseason prospects of both sides.
Injuries have hampered the progress of Hull FC in recent times and they now sit outside the top six going into this match but they do seem to have players returning so could still throw themselves into the mix for the play-offs. Hull KR sit in fifth place in the table and a win here would almost secure the extension to their campaign so there is plenty riding on this one. I always find this the toughest of the derbies to call though and that is still the case with Hull FC having players returning. I’m happy to leave this one well alone.

Castleford Tigers vs Wakefield Trinity (19.00)
The match that isn’t in front of any TV cameras sees the Castleford Tigers looking to continue their good form when they take on a Wakefield Trinity who are in a bit of a rut and needing to adjust to life without Chris Chester.
I don’t think Trinity lack for pride or spirit so I would expect something of a decent performance from them here but they just don’t look good enough to challenge this Tigers side and arrest their terrible record at The Jungle. They have lost their last 15 Super League matches against the Tigers, and of the last nine here, they have only stayed within three converted tries once. They just can’t seem to perform here. Castleford look to be heading into this derby at the right time. They have just beaten Leeds and St Helens pretty convincingly and are still getting players coming back. While Michael Shenton and Jake Trueman are big absences, they missed both last week and still knocked off the champions. I expect another comfortable Castleford evening here.
