Super League XXVII – Saturday 26th February Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The third set of matches in the Super League XXVII season come to a close on Saturday afternoon when those who are yet to grace the turf this weekend do so looking for the two points which will boost their start to the campaign.

Unfortunately there is no televised coverage of either of these two matches so we are reduced to the radio commentaries and social media feeds for updates if you are not going to either of the two games.

Hull FC vs Salford Red Devils (15.00)

The opening match of the day sees Hull FC looking to bounce back from their mauling at the hands of St Helens last week when they welcome a surprisingly undefeated Salford Red Devils to the MKM Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Hull FC opened up their season with a solid if unspectacular win over Wakefield Trinity before coming up a distant second best to St Helens last week. Losing to Saints isn’t necessarily a bad result but Luke Gale was sent off in that match and begins a five-match suspension here and that is certainly not what the ‘Black and Whites’ needed to take out of that loss. There was a lot of doom and gloom around many neutrals with regards to the Salford Red Devils this season but already those doubters have been silenced with Paul Rowley leading his charges to wins at Castleford Tigers and home to Toulouse Olympique in brutal conditions. You could argue they haven’t beaten anything much there but the entertaining style they have done it in bodes well for Salford fans. I think the Gale absence is massive here and with the Red Devils having a Marc Sneyd potentially with a point to prove against his former club, his kicking game can lead the Salford outfit to a win here.

Toulouse Olympique vs Warrington Wolves (17.00)

On paper at least the biggest mismatch of the weekend comes in the last of the games in this round of action as the new boys Toulouse Olympique play host to a Warrington Wolves side who have their eyes firmly on Old Trafford this season.

Warrington head to France unbeaten for their campaign so far. There is a case to be made that they weren’t that impressive against Leeds Rhinos in the opening round but they were much more at it against Castleford last week and will be looking to build on that. There were fears heading into the season that Toulouse Olympique were going to be cannon fodder for teams at this level after a quiet off-season and the opening two matches would suggest those concerns had foundation but they made a key signing in midweek and more are expected to come in due course which might give them an outside chance of beating the drop. Even with Olly Ashalt-Bott around you’ve got to think Warrington win this match but whether they cover a handicap in the high 20s remains to be seen. It will be all about winning for the Wolves but if they are on it they could blow Toulouse away. Leave this one alone is my advice.
