The latest round of matches in the Super League XXVIII season continues on Friday evening when two more fixtures take place as we head towards the halfway mark of what is looking like an increasingly open competition.
That means that the four teams in action on Friday will be eager for two points which should see a competitiveness to the proceedings. One of the two matches is live on the TV for us to enjoy while regular updates should come from the other one.
Castleford Tigers vs Hull KR (20.00 – Sky Sports Arena)
The TV cameras head to The Jungle on Friday evening to see if the Castleford Tigers can finally show the world the team they can be when they host a Hull KR side who have almost gone into third place in the table unnoticed.
The Robins have reached that lofty position courtesy of four successive wins in the Super League and it is probably no coincidence that they have coincided with key players returning to their fold. Their last two wins have been particularly impressive, against their rivals Hull FC which was a derby demolition, and St Helens, who showed how good a win that was on Thursday evening. The same can’t be said of the Tigers. They just can’t seem to get anything going this term and their two wins came against a Leeds Rhinos side who barely showed up on the night and Wakefield Trinity who everyone are beating. If there is a positive for the Tigers, it would be that those two wins were both here at The Jungle in the last two matches here. Even so, those wins are incredibly easy to pick holes in and I would need to see a really confident, comprehensive display from Castleford before I want them on side. That is exactly what we are getting from Hull KR, who have only conceded 40 points in this four-match winning burst and are in good order at both ends of the pitch. I expect the visitors to cover a converted try in this one.

Leigh Leopards vs Leeds Rhinos (20.00)
The match away from the TV cameras comes from the Leigh Sports Village where the Leigh Leopards will go in search of another win when they on a Leeds Rhinos team who are every bit as inconsistent as many of the other sides in the league.
Leigh have four wins from their opening nine matches while Leeds are one better off courtesy of their win over Hull FC last week but both are striving for regularity in their performances let alone their results, although injuries are often a key factor in that inconsistency. Leigh are generally competitive in their matches but just lack that person to open tougher defences up. Leeds don’t lack for that but getting a settled team onto the park is an issue and their defence can be exposed a little too easily at times because of the lack of continuity. This one could go either way in fairness. If I was betting I would side with the added class of those Leeds backs but they are a side I’ve struggled to predict right all season so I’m not going to get involved in this one.
