The third round of action in the Super League XXVIII season concludes on a bumper night in the competition on Friday when the remaining five matches all take place up and down the UK and into France.
The headline match is the repeat of the 2022 Grand Final which is the TV game over the course of the evening. That TV coverage should provide regular updates on the other four matches which take place elsewhere.
Friday’s fixtures are as follows: (UK kick off and TV in brackets)
Catalans Dragons v Hull FC (18.00)
Wakefield Trinity v Huddersfield Giants (19.45)
Castleford Tigers v Wigan Warriors (20.00)
Hull Kingston Rovers v Leigh Leopards (20.00)
St Helens v Leeds Rhinos (20.00 – Sky Sports Arena)

The TV cameras head to the Totally Wicked Stadium where there will be a celebration for the World Club Challenge winners St Helens in their first home game since they defied the odds down under. They will go up against the team they beat to win the Super League crown and set up that shot at Penrith in the form of the Leeds Rhinos. There is also a local derby taking place over the course of the evening too when Wakefield Trinity host the Huddersfield Giants in a match which does go ahead despite concerns over the pitch.
The action actually begins in France where the Catalans Dragons go in search of a third win to open up the season when they take on another team who have a 100% record so far in Hull FC. Castleford Tigers have failed to win either of their opening matches and they’ll be keen to get off the mark when they host the Wigan Warriors. Hull KR have won both their matches this season and they host the Leigh Leopards who have lost their first two games.
Betting
I’ll take one over the course of the night in the hope I have a bit more luck than I had on Thursday when Salford looked to be cruising only for the referee to take matters into his own hands and cost us dearly. I’m avoiding the TV game because I fear that a St Helens comedown might be on the horizon and while they’ve offered nothing so far this season, Leeds Rhinos might fancy the role of going under the radar and spoiling the party so to speak.
Instead I’ll take Hull KR to see off the Leigh Leopards. There was a lot of optimism around the Leopards heading into the season but they are having the same problem that Wigan Warriors did under Adrian Lam in that defensively they are competitive and sound but they lack the spark to open up defences and when you consider that vibrant Wigan and Salford attacks haven’t really cracked the code of this Hull KR defence I would be surprised if Leigh do. Hull KR look very good going forward. Any side that has Jordan Abdull and Mikey Lewis pulling the strings is going to be tough to defend and then when you consider the form the likes of Matt Parcell and Shaun Kenny-Dowall have begun the season in I expect Hull KR to keep Craven Park as a fortress and be more than eight points better than Leigh here.
Tips
Back Hull KR (-8) to beat Leigh Leopards for a 3/10 stake at 1.91 with Boylesports
