The Super League XXVIII Magic Weekend concludes with the league leaders going into the weekend in action on Sunday afternoon when the Warrington Wolves go up against Hull FC in what should be an entertaining way to close the action at St James’ Park.
Warrington have been the best team in the Super League in the first half of the season but Hull FC are improving all the time and will want to show that they can perform on the big stage ahead of some big encounters to come.
Where to watch
The match will be shown live and in full on the Sky Sports Arena channel with the build-up to the contest beginning at 4.15pm and kick off coming along at 4.30pm.
Hull FC
Hull FC have had a bit of an up and down start to their season. They started it very well but then hit a real wall when they couldn’t defend for love nor money but in the last month or so they have come back well and look like a much more cohesive and competent unit. Although they were beaten by Salford Red Devils last week, they had won four on the spin prior to that and had conceded no more than 14 points in any of those wins.
If you wanted to be critical of Hull FC in those Super League wins it would be that they didn’t really put a team to the sword in attack but I would imagine that they have been working so hard on their defence that it is only natural that their attacking play took a back seat. They don’t lack for potent players in the offensive areas of the field though and it will be interesting to see whether the big pitch and huge stage brings that out of them.
Warrington Wolves
We have had to wait a while but we are finally getting the promise that this Warrington Wolves squad have had for a number of seasons delivered. They have blazed a trail at the top of Super League throughout the early part of the campaign but they have lost three of their last five in the Super League, so they will be eager to not just get back to winning ways in this match but to offer a dominant performances with the eyes of the rest of the competition on them.
Any side coached by Daryl Powell will always look good in attack and that is certainly the case with this Warrington outfit. Going into the Magic Weekend no team had scored more points than them and that gives them a chance in every match. At times that can come at the risk of leaving themselves exposed defensively which is why St Helens and Wigan Warriors were able to beat them recently but all in all Warrington are trending nicely.

Team News
Tony Smith has only made the one change to his squad for this Magic Weekend clash with Andre Savelio coming into the reckoning. Chris Satae is in the squad despite securing a move to the Catalans Dragons for next season.
Josh Drinkwater has served his one-match ban and is expected to come back into the Warrington side but there is no Josh McGuire who remains sidelined in a bit of mystery. Sam Kasiano and Gil Dudson will bring the heat through the middle.
Betting
I am expecting the Magic Weekend to conclude in an entertaining fashion between two teams who like to move the ball around and who have creative halves who can open up the opposition defence. I always think Magic Weekend is a stage where teams look to show their best of themselves in an attacking point of view and the three matches on Saturday which were competitive affairs were all high scoring which doesn’t surprise me.
The Sunday opener wasn’t overly high scoring but we can’t read too much into that with Wakefield involved in this match. This is a match between teams who can put points on the board but who can be exposed defensively as well and as such I’m not convinced we even need a competitive contest for an over 42.5 point line to be covered. Whether it is competitive or one of them runs riot I expect the two to come together to go over that line in perfect rugby conditions.
