Super League XXX – Saturday 1st March Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

It is a huge day for the Super League on Saturday as the competitive leaves Europe for the first time to take a game into Las Vegas, one of two matches which take place on a momentous occasion for the sport and the competition.

Both of the matches will be live on TV in the UK with the first one having terrestrial TV coverage and then the second one being the blockbuster from Vegas so there is no reason not to sit back and enjoy the showcase of rugby league!

Wakefield Trinity vs St Helens (14.30 – BBC 2 & Sky Sports+)

The opening match of the day comes from Yorkshire where Wakefield Trinity will look to continue their positive start to the season when they entertain a St Helens side who have won two very different encounters to open up their campaign.

Wakefield were good winners of their opening match against the Leeds Rhinos in the opening week of the season but came up just short against Hull KR last week but two competitive battles could have them in good shape moving forward. Saints have won a couple of processions. Salford turned up with their reserve team in the opening week and Castleford Tigers never looked remotely good enough to trouble them last week. Wakefield will expect to give St Helens their biggest test of the season so far at the very least and it will be interesting to see if they do that but these are two sides I’m still collecting a little more information on before I can make an accurate assessment of them so with that in mind, this is a watching brief for me rather than a betting one.

Wigan Warriors vs Warrington Wolves (21.30 – Sky Main Event, Sky Showcase & Sky Sports Action)

The second match of the day is the one which takes the Super League to Las Vegas as the champions Wigan Warriors take their home match against the Warrington Wolves across the pond to open up a spectacular day of Rugby League out in the Allegiant Stadium.

This should be a cracking game between two of the best three teams in Super League last season. Both teams have started the campaign very strong at the back but probably not as strong offensively as they would like to. The latter might change here though. Generally these showpiece occasions are higher scoring than regular league games. That is usually the case at the Magic Weekend and on this big Allegiant pitch with conditions which should suit fluent, expansive rugby league, I think these two will combine for more points than bookmakers expect. There are some real speedsters on show in this match and with more space for them to do their thing the 32.5 point line looks very much on the low side to me.
