The Super League XXX weekend continues on Saturday afternoon when another two matches take place in the competition as four teams look to resume from the Challenge Cup break with two points to add to their total.
Both of the matches are live on TV in the UK which means that despite the weather improving, there is no reason to not sit back and enjoy four hours or so of quality rugby league over the course of the afternoon.
Castleford Tigers vs Catalans Dragons (15.00 – Sky Sports+)
The opening match of the afternoon will see two of the sides with just one win to their name this season competing at The Jungle where the Castleford Tigers will look to get the better of the Catalans Dragons.
Both of these teams won their last Super League outing a couple of weeks ago with the Tigers getting the better of a dismal Salford side while the Dragons eased past a disappointing Leeds Rhinos outfit. Castleford have had a couple of weeks off to reflect on their start to the season whereas the Dragons were in Challenge Cup action last weekend, although they cruised to victory against the second tier side Featherstone Rovers. Something doesn’t look quite right with Catalans though and the loss of Arthur Mourgue is an interesting one so I’m a little bit cautious where the French side are concerned. Castleford might be better than their record suggests this season given that their opening three matches were at Hull KR, home to St Helens and away to Leeds Rhinos, all teams expected to be in the top six this term. When they did get a soft opponent they beat them when they beat Salford and that bodes well. My gut feel is that Castleford are fair value here but I’m not strong enough on it to act in betting action so I’ll sit this one out.

Leeds Rhinos vs Wigan Warriors (17.30 – Sky Sports Action)
The second match of the afternoon comes from Headingley where two Super League heavyweights meet as two sides look to put Challenge Cup exits last week behind them when the Leeds Rhinos take on the Wigan Warriors.
Leeds were probably expected to come up short away to St Helens in the cup last week, although they would have wanted to make the most of a favourable early position in the game, whereas Wigan losing at home to Hull FC was much more of a surprise and given that it took the first piece of silverware that they possessed away from them, you would imagine that the Super League champions will be smarting from that and will be out to bounce back in some style here. The crazy thing about that Wigan cup loss last week was that they were in complete control at half time but were stunned by a brilliant second half showing from Hull FC. I’m not ready to write the Warriors off just yet though and I expect them to bounce back against a Rhinos side who have taken care of teams they have been expected to beat in Salford Red Devils and Castleford Tigers this season but have lost to anyone half decent. Wigan are better than that. We know they don’t like losing and generally when they do lose the next opponent gets it and when you consider that Wigan have won two of the last three meetings with the Rhinos by big margins without conceding a point, you can see a comfortable Wigan win here. Despite that fantastic second 40 from Hull last week, Wigan have only conceded 47 points in four Super League games this term and 24 of those came when they were 42 up against Warrington. I don’t expect Leeds to score many points here and expect Wigan to have enough about them to cover a six point start.
