The Hundred 2022 – Northern Superchargers vs London Spirit Tips and Betting Preview

We have another double header in The Hundred on Sunday and it kicks off at Headingley where the Northern Superchargers are the latest team who will look to get the better of the table topping London Spirit.

The Superchargers opened up their season with a win but have lost two since then while the Spirit have won all three matches that they have played and if they extend that winning run to four here then they will have every chance of making the finals.

Northern Superchargers

The Northern Superchargers have been competitive in all three of the matches they have played this season but they have been let down by their bowling attack just not quite getting the job done in the tighter moments. They have conceded more than 150 in all three innings in which they have bowled and that isn’t a good combination. The Superchargers need to find a combination that allows them to get the better of the batters in the last 10-15 balls of the innings.

Their batters have gone well enough in the main, although I’m not entirely convinced they have put a complete performance together just yet. They have threatened it on a couple of occasions and then played a brilliant recovery innings in the other match so if they can put a good start together with that finish they achieved against the Trent Rockets then the Superchargers will be hard to beat. Having Harry Brook back here will help.

London Spirit

This has been a complete and surprising turnaround for the London Spirit. Having been awful last season they have been perfect in this campaign and are showing signs of getting better and better which will please the iconic combination of Eoin Morgan and Trevor Bayliss. Maybe it shouldn’t be a surprise they are going a lot better with that duo back together, especially when you consider that they have the majority of the attack which won Hampshire the Vitality Blast earlier in the campaign.

The Spirit bowlers have got a lot of plaudits this season, largely because they have defended scores on three occasions, but actually their batters should be getting some headlines too because they have deliver three accomplished showings with the bat with most of their top order delivering. There might even be more to come from that department because Glenn Maxwell looked to be coming to the boil last time out.

Key Players

There is no doubting the fact that Harry Brook is a special talent and if he can catch fire with the bat from the off then he could take any score and turn it into something that is a sizable total. He is the Superchargers talisman.

Nathan Ellis has showed his death bowling credentials three times in this tournament to go along with that incredible ending to the Vitality Blast final and on a ground which is one of the two high scoring ones in the competition if he can bowl a tight set somewhere it might be the difference between winning and losing.

Betting

Headingley is a high scoring ground and these two sides have the potential to be high scoring. I would say the Superchargers probably edge it on out and out power with the bat but their bowling will certainly give the London Spirit the chance to score some big runs. The big problem for the Superchargers has been their death bowling and if they happen to be bowling to Kieron Pollard at that stage of this match there could be carnage.

This ground is a tiny ground and the wickets here are always decent. They play on hybrid pitches so the women’s game earlier in the day shouldn’t do too much damage to the track and with the quality of the batters on show and the intense heat likely to make bowling even harder than it normally is here I just expect the runs to flow. You can get a run line of 305.5 for this match and when you consider that all three Superchargers matches have covered this line and London Spirit have posted more than 153, which is half of this line, in two of their three matches, there is a good chance of the over landing here.
