The quarter final line up for the US Open singles draws will be completed at Flushing Meadows on Monday when the remainder of the fourth round is played out on the two show courts on Labor Day out in New York.
We are seeing some big names dive out of this competition and that will have both number ones in the world on their toes on Monday as they look to book their spot in the last eight of the final Grand Slam of the year.
Arthur Ashe Stadium
On Labor Day it is probably only right that an American player gets the action on the main court up and running when Jessica Pegula, now the leading ranked home player left in the draw, faces off against Diana Shnaider for a sport in the last eight. When they are done the former champion Daniil Medvedev, the last remaining past winner of this event left in the men’s draw, will close out the day session when he takes on the surprise package of Nuno Borges. It is all about the world number one male and female players in the night session. Iga Swiatek is the first one up onto court when she starts the night session against a Liudmila Samsonova who seems to be regularly getting to this stage of events and can be dangerous with her power. When they are done the match of Monday takes place when Jannik Sinner looks to reach the New York quarter final at the expense of the home player Tommy Paul, who will be eyeing up a major upset.

Louis Arnstrong Stadium
The other four singles matches take place over on the Louis Armstrong Stadium where we get underway with the French Open and Wimbledon finalist Jasmine Paolini. She meets Karolina Muchova who is looking to make the quarter final for the second year in a row. The first men’s match onto the court on Monday sees the sole remaining Brit in the draw in Jack Draper looking to make the last eight. Tomas Machac is his opponent. We then move back to the women’s draw for what could be quite a battle between two excellent defensive players when Caroline Wozniacki meets Beatriz Haddad Maia before we conclude with the battle of the Australians when Alex de Minaur goes up against Jordan Thompson for a last eight spot.
Betting
I’m a little surprised that some firms have Beatriz Haddad Maia as the outsider for her match against Carolina Wozniacki. The Dane clearly has a big reputation and has a decent New York record but prior the beginning of this tournament she had played 26 matches in 2024 and had only won half of them so form wise it has been a struggle. She has gone well to make it into this last 16 match but it has to be said the draw couldn’t have been much kinder with her victims thus far ranking at 155, 92 and 143. It goes without saying that she is massively up in class here.
Haddad Maia has already beaten two players ranked higher in the rankings than Wozniacki this week and looks to be getting better the longer the week goes on. We know that she is more than capable of playing marathon matches which bodes well if this turns into one of them but Wozniacki is going to need to find some of her best form in order for that to happen. To be fair to the Dane, she did make the quarter finals in Indian Wells earlier in the year but this is the first time she has won three matches in the same tournament since then. That isn’t the case with Haddad Maia who made the final in Cleveland last week and looks to be carrying plenty of confidence forward with her.
