The quarter final line up for the two singles draws will be completed at Wimbledon on Monday when the halves of the draw which haven’t played their fourth round games do so on what should be another competitive day at SW19.
We saw Novak Djokovic move into the quarter final on Sunday and on Monday it will be the turn of his rival Rafael Nadal to follow suit on what should be another very good day of tennis in keeping with the opening seven days of the event.
Day 7 Recap
Novak Djokovic came through on Sunday but he needed a fourth set to get the better of Tim van Rijthoven. Earlier in the day there was a comfortable win for Cameron Norrie and a four-set win for Jannik Sinner over Carlos Alcaraz in the shock of the day in the men’s draw. There was one shock in the women’s draw too with Jelena Ostapenko being knocked out by Tatjana Maria but Ons Jabeur safely negotiated her way through to the quarter final.
It was another profitable day for us on Sunday. We got up and running on the winning front as Marie Bouzkova produced another clinical display to get the better of Caroline Garcia in straight sets before David Goffin outlasted Frances Tiafoe in a four-hour epic. Unfortunately Tommy Paul couldn’t complete the clean sweep on the day but it was more profit to add to what has been a highly profitable tournament so far for our match bets.
Centre Court
After all of the controversy of his third round win on Saturday evening, Nick Kyrgios gets the opportunity to open the show on the Centre Court on Monday. He will face Brandon Nakashima in a rare unseeded tussle on the main court. When they are done the standout women’s match takes centre stage as Paula Badosa meets the 2019 champion Simona Halep in what should be a cracker of a match. The final clash on the Centre Court on Monday sees a player who was part of the legends parade on this court on Sunday in Rafael Nadal going up against Botic van de Zandschulp.
Court 1
We begin with a women’s match over on Court 1 on Monday and that sees the heavy hitting Elena Rybakina looking to make it into the last eight when the Kazakhstan ace goes up against Petra Martic who dumped Jessica Pegula out in the last round. There is one men’s match on this court on Monday and it sees the Eastbourne champion Taylor Fritz looking to progress. He will go up against the Australian player Jason Kubler before we conclude the day with another women’s match as Amanda Anisimova goes up against the woman who beat Serena Williams last week in Harmony Tan.
Court 2
As with Sunday that leaves us with two matches in the singles draw and they both come on Court 2 where the hugely impressive Alex de Minaur gets the action started. Having beaten British players in the last two rounds he gets to take on the Chilean player Cristian Garin who has surprised many with his run this week. Two dark horses for the title meet in the women’s match on this court as Alize Cornet looks to back up her incredible win over Iga Swiatek in the previous round when she takes on Ajla Tomljanovic, who will be eyeing the last eight here for the second year in succession.

Men’s Betting
I’ll take one from the men’s draw on Monday with it coming in the opening match of the day where I expect Alex de Minaur to have no problems overcoming Cristian Garin. So far de Minaur has won all seven sets he has played against the Chilean in their three matches, including both of them in Eastbourne a couple of weeks ago. If that wasn’t enough for de Minaur he’ll know Garin has only taken one of those sets beyond 6-4 so this looks a good matchup for the Australian.
Garin has done very well to make it through this far in conditions which don’t really suit but we shouldn’t forget he had a touch when Matteo Berrettini pulled out in the first round as the Chilean was due to be the first opponent for the Queens champion. This match is out on Court 2 which is playing very fast this week and de Minaur is playing some brilliant tennis. I think he comes through here and keeps his perfect set record against Garin intact.
Women’s Betting
My women’s bet comes in the final match over on Court 1 where we might get a clash of styles as Amanda Anisimova takes on Harmony Tan in a clash where the American is incredibly short, almost disrespectfully so. Tan made a name for herself in seeing off Serena Williams in the opening round but since then she has taken care of Sara Sorribes-Tormo and Katie Boulter and done it in impressive style. In all three matches Tan has used plenty of variety and at no stage in this tournament has she fired more unforced errors than winners.
That isn’t something you can say for Anisimova. She has done well to come from a set down to Lauren Davis and Coco Gauff in the last two rounds but she has hit more errors than winners in both of those contests and errors at the wrong time could be costly here. Tan made just five errors in 14 games in her emphatic win against Boulter last time out and her tidier tennis can serve her well here. I don’t know if it will be enough for Tan to win but it gives her every chance of keeping within 4.5 games.
