World Championship Snooker 2024 – Day 10 Tips and Betting Preview

The second round of the World Championship draws to a close inside the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield on Monday when the four remaining matches play their finales across two sessions of play at the famous venue.

There are no fewer than three world champions on show over the course of the day on Monday as well as another man who has made a final and four dangerous challengers who won’t want this to be their final day in Sheffield.

Day 9 Recap

It was a bit of a strange day on Sunday because over three sessions of action there was just one match which concluded as Stephen Maguire came through against his nemesis Shaun Murphy 13-9 to ensure that once again we will have a qualifier in the one-table setup. Four other matches saw action on Sunday with Ronnie O’Sullivan playing two sessions to build a 10-6 lead over Ryan Day while Kyren Wilson holds the same advantage over Joe O’Connor. In the two more appealing matches Mark Allen leads John Higgins 9-7 and Stuart Bingham is in front of Jack Lisowski by the same score.

Even though there was no preview on Sunday with just the one match getting up and running and that looking as one sided as it is proving to be, it was a good day for us betting wise because we had an outstanding bet on Stephen Maguire to come out on top in that match against Shaun Murphy. We were pretty confident he would convert his 10-6 overnight lead and so it proved to give us some profit for the round.

In Play Betting

There are no matches getting underway on Monday so it is just the four matches that have one session to go that we have to bet on. I’m not interested in the two afternoon matches where Ronnie O’Sullivan and Kyren Wilson lead 10-6. I expect them to see off Ryan Day and Joe O’Connor fairly comfortably from here. I also think Mark Allen will convert his 9-7 lead against John Higgins in the evening session, although that might end up producing some drama before it is done.

I do think there could be value in a turnaround in the other game. Jack Lisowski really should be at least level going into this final session but a rushed pink in the final frame on Sunday cost him dearly but I still think there is life in him because Stuart Bingham has won 19 frames in this tournament and has only made five breaks of 75 or more, so won five frames in one visit. Eventually if you give someone like Lisowski enough chances he will put you to bed. Bingham only made one break over 50 in that second session so if Lisowski tightens up his game and Bingham continues to struggle to score there is more than enough time for the higher ranked player to turn this around. This still has a 13-11 or 13-12 feel about it so the 11/5 on Lisowski feels a bit big.
