The final day of qualifying for the Wuhan Open takes place inside the Morningside Arena in Leicester on Tuesday when the eight matches yet to be played ahead of the tournament going to the main venue get completed.
We only have eight matches left which means that we only have two sessions of play over the course of Tuesday but despite the shortage of games we do still have a number of recognisable names to enjoy watching.
Morning Session
Four matches take place in the morning session on Tuesday and the highest ranked player on show being Hossein Vafaei who will be looking to put a disastrous European Masters trip behind him when he takes on Marco Fu in the standout match. Two Welsh players meet on one of the other tables when Michael White goes up against Andrew Pagett while the veteran Mark Davis will look to make it through to the main draw when he meets Liam Graham. The other match sees the former Welsh Open champion Jordan Brown going up against Himanshu Jain.
Afternoon Session
John Higgins is the highest ranked player who is in action in this qualifying competition and he is saved for the final session of it and as such he headlines the afternoon schedule. He takes on the rising Welsh player Dylan Emery. Elsewhere in the session we have Jimmy White looking to find a first win of the season. He meets Liam Highfield while Sam Craigie will look to make it through to the main draw against a Peng Yisong, who won’t be short of motivation himself given this is a home tournament for him. The other match sees Ricky Walden looking to make it back to a Chinese event when he takes on Ian Burns.

Betting
There isn’t a huge amount that takes my fancy over the course of the day on Tuesday but I will go with one because I think Ricky Walden just has too much quality for Ian Burns, a player who has only won nine frames this season and the only player he has beaten in the relatively early stages of the campaign is Steven Hallworth, who is not even on the main tour by right. I think he has his work cut out to go with Walden, who has an excellent record in China and will be eager to get back there.
These two actually met at the World Championship qualifying at the end of last season when Walden came out a 10-6 winner but that might only have been as close as it was because that was the first match of the event for Walden whereas Burns had the confidence of winning a match. Walden comes here off the back of a decent run in the European where in the first game he knocked in three centuries in a win over Jamie Jones so he is in good scoring form and I expect him to have way too much for Burns.
