The second round of the UK Championship ends on Sunday when some of the biggest names in the game take to the green baize once again to continue their quests for the title. The televised action has got underway and we saw a couple of major shocks on Saturday and that is likely to have focused the minds of the big names on Sunday.
Once again on Sunday we have two sessions each featuring eight matches with all of them being over the best of 11 frames. We’ll go through them here.
Afternoon Session
The main tables will be occupied by two of the biggest names in the game when Ronnie O’Sullivan and Ding Junhui grace the green baize. O’Sullivan faces Rhys Clark while Ding play Ross Muir. Both are matches the superstars should win.
The other tables have six matches on them. Dave Gilbert takes on Mark Joyce, Mei Xiwen plays Martin Gould, Yan Bingtao and Liang Wenbo meet in an all-Chinese clash, Ben Woollaston faces Paul Davison while Mark Allen meets Rod Lawler and Robert Milkins goes up against Hammad Miah.
Evening Session
The TV matches in this session sees Judd Trump going up against Oliver Lines in a battle of two youngsters while Shaun Murphy faces the dangerous Robin Hull on the other televised table.
Elsewhere Ricky Walden against Scott Donaldson is one match with Joe Perry taking on Xiao Guodong in another. Rory McLeod faces Marco Fu and Jimmy Robertson plays Mark Davis in an even looking match up. The round is completed with Ryan Day battling Kurt Maflin and Zhang Anda meeting Anthony McGill.
Betting
This hasn’t been a round of matches that has yielded a huge number of bets and I’m only taking one in it to finish with. That is Robin Hull against Shaun Murphy. These two met in the International Championship last month and Murphy won 6-4.
I fancy this one will be quite tight too. Hull is a very solid scorer and a very dangerous player and Murphy just doesn’t quite look on top of his game just yet. I would imagine in the high pressure moments Murphy will handle himself better but on Bet365’s Asian line the Finn is getting a big head start here and I fancy he can carry that start to the finish line.
Tips
HALF LOSS – Back R.Hull (+2.75 frames AH) to beat S.Murphy for a 4/10 stake at 1.90 with Bet365
