The final day of football in the Premier League prior to Christmas has all the makings of being a great day. For the first time we have a Saturday Night Football which means there are four kick off times for us to enjoy including three live games on what truly is a super Saturday.
The weekend got off to an exciting start on Friday night when Arsenal and Liverpool played out an absolute thriller and we should be set for much more of the same across the entirety of the day.
Early Kick Off
The action all gets underway at Goodison Park when Sam Allardyce will look to continue Everton’s revival when they host the champions Chelsea in what looks a competitive match. Everton are suddenly in fine form but Chelsea don’t lose many so this looks like being a decent beginning to the afternoon.
3pm Matches
We have six matches in the usual 3pm slot with all eyes on the leaders Manchester City who can power further clear for a few hours. They host Bournemouth at the Etihad while Brighton welcome Watford to the Amex Stadium. Southampton host Huddersfield at St Mary’s while there is a huge game at the Bet365 Stadium where Stoke host West Brom. There is another big clash at the bottom when Swansea begin life after Paul Clement by taking on Crystal Palace at the Liberty Stadium. West Ham host Newcastle in another match with relegation implications on it at the London Stadium.
Late Game
The match in the usual late game slot comes from Turf Moor where top six Burnley host a Tottenham team who go into the contest below them in the table. A win for Burnley will move them level with Liverpool in fourth place while Tottenham need to win this to stay with the pack in the race for Champions League football.
Saturday Night Football
The first ever Saturday Night Football comes from the King Power Stadium where Leicester City will look to further dent any lingering title chances Manchester United might have. The Foxes have nothing to lose here while United have to win the game so we should get a competitive finale to the pre-Christmas Premier League action.

Betting
I’m going with two bets over the course of the day but we have to wait until the final two matches for them. At Turf Moor I’m not expecting many goals. Nobody has gone there and opened Burnley up yet this season and that includes Manchester City so I’m not sure Tottenham in this form will fare any better either. On the flip side Burnley don’t score many. The win is so important for Tottenham which might add to the pressure while Burnley won’t look to be expansive. Under 2.5 goals looks a nice price here.
One place where I do fancy some goals is the King Power Stadium. We saw last week how susceptible Leicester are to the counter attack but I see no reason why they won’t go after Manchester United in this one and we’ve seen in the past that this United defence isn’t the most watertight it has ever been. United are more than capable of banging three in here but if Leicester score so much the better. I like over 2.5 in this one.
