2017-18 Premier League – Saturday 31st March Matches Betting Preview

There is one set of matches over the Easter weekend in the Premier League and they begin on Saturday afternoon as the division returns from the international break in style. That was the last of the international stoppages in the league so everything is focused on a conclusion to events at either end of the table.

We will go some way to determining those issues on a day where we have eight matches across the usual three kick off times so there is plenty to enjoy and look forward to and some very big games to get stuck into.

Early Kick Off

The action gets underway at Selhurst Park where Crystal Palace go in search of another valuable three points when they take on a Liverpool side who will want the Premier League points but at the same time might have half an eye on the Champions League quarter final in midweek. Palace will temporarily move five points clear of the drop zone if they can pick up the victory.

3pm Matches

One match where there is little on it comes from the Amex Stadium where Brighton host Leicester but the rest of the games in the traditional slot are full of meaning. Manchester United play host to Swansea in a match both sides could do with winning at Old Trafford while two sides not yet safe meet at St James’ Park when Newcastle United take on Huddersfield Town.

Watford welcome Bournemouth to Vicarage Road with bottom of the pile West Brom taking on a Burnley side who might yet have their sights set on European football next season. West Brom probably need snookers now but a win here would help. The biggest match of the afternoon comes at the London Stadium where the two teams either side of the drop zone do battle when West Ham take on Southampton.

Late Game

A busy day of action concludes at Goodison Park where Everton get the chance to make a name for themselves when they welcome the leaders Manchester City to town. With City having such a big lead in the table it remains to be seen whether they rest a few players ahead of their Champions League match in midweek. Everton are safe and can give this one a right good go should they want to.

Betting

I’m going with two bets on Saturday with the first one coming in the opening match of the day where Crystal Palace host Liverpool in a fixture that is traditional one which has goals in it. Three of the last four league games between these two at Selhurst Park have had four or more goals and the other one had three and I’m expecting goals again. Liverpool are buzzing right now and score for fun away from home while Crystal Palace are one of the more potent sides in the league in terms of matches they score in. I’m expecting the pair to combine nicely to cover an over 3 line.

West Brom might not be mathematically down yet but they are going down and Burnley can take them a step closer to that. Burnley have won their last two matches and will have a couple of key players buoyed by being away with England in the international break. They are defensively tight to restrict West Brom to little and they have enough about them in forward areas to make a breakthrough. Usually I’d play a handicap but with draws no use to West Brom I’ll take Burnley to win on the nose.
