Another busy week in the Premier League begins on Saturday with seven matches in the top flight. With a midweek fixture list upcoming another plenty more action before, during and after Christmas we are entering a pivotal time in the division.
As ever on Saturday’s these days we have three kick off times and we have some decent matches to enjoy even though the top two are not in action until Sunday afternoon.
Early Kick Off
The action begins at the London Stadium where West Ham United are involved in a huge clash with the champions Chelsea. West Ham are second from bottom going into the weekend and winless in eight matches and desperately need a win. Chelsea are still hoping to reel in City and United at the top of the table and the only way they are going to do that is by winning matches like this.
3pm Matches
Burnley and Watford are enjoying better seasons than many expected them to be having and they meet at Turf Moor while Crystal Palace will look to continue their improvement when they play host to Bournemouth. Two promoted sides meet in the Premier League for the first time when Huddersfield host Brighton while two sides who could be in danger of relegation battle it out at the Liberty Stadium when Swansea host West Brom. Stoke go to Wembley to face Tottenham in the other game.
Late Game
The day concludes at St James’ Park where a plummeting Newcastle take on a Leicester side who have moved into the top half and can go up another place if they win the match and Watford fail to win earlier in the day. Newcastle desperately need to end this poor trot that they are on so this should be a competitive contest.

Betting
I like one bet on Saturday and it comes from Wembley Stadium where the handicap on Stoke City looks far too big to me. Tottenham have only scored more than one goal in a league game at Wembley once all season and that came against a pathetic Liverpool defence. Stoke are by no means the real deal but if they can find the net at any point then then should be favourites to cover a +1.75 asian line. Given that Spurs struggle for goals at home I’ll take Stoke on this huge handicap.
