2017-18 Premier League – Sunday 17th September Matches Betting Preview

The latest round of matches in the Premier League this weekend conclude with the traditional Super Sunday. The double header this week has the potential to be the best one of the season thus far although often when expectations are high the matches can flatter to deceive.

Four sides who are all expected to be challenging for either the title or the top four this season meet in two tasty looking clashes to round off the weekend.

Chelsea vs Arsenal

It gets underway with a clash between Chelsea and Arsenal at Stamford Bridge. This will be the third time in four months these two have met. They met in the FA Cup final in May and the Community Shield in August.

Arsenal won both those trophies so there could be a whiff of revenge in the air for Chelsea although they won the big crown last year and eased past Arsenal in this fixture on their way to winning the league.

Arsenal have a very poor record against the big sides and that record on the road against them is even worse. We saw that recently when they went to Liverpool and failed to show up and their soft centre could be exposed once again, especially when Arsenal play this match so soon after their Europa League clash. I’m fancying a home win here.

Manchester United vs Everton

The second match of the afternoon sees the leaders going into the weekend taking on one of the surprise packages of the season for the wrong reasons when Manchester United host Everton. That means it is a first return to Old Trafford for Wayne Rooney.

United have looked very good this season so far but they are without Paul Pogba for this one which could be significant. Everton had high hopes leading into the campaign but a rotten performance against Tottenham last weekend was followed by an equally poor one in the Europa League in midweek and all of a sudden knives are getting sharpened for Ronald Koeman.

We saw at Man City earlier in the campaign that Everton can compete on the road to the best sides but I get the feeling that they have lost their mojo a little since then. Mourinho sides are often dominant at home and given that the Toffees could be a little heavy legged I’ll side with the hosts here too.
