The last group to get underway in the Africa Cup of Nations is Group D and it does so on another busy day in the tournament on Tuesday. That means the former winners Ghana and Egypt are both in action while Uganda and Mali will be looking to impress too.
Three of these four sides are in the same World Cup qualifying group so they will know each other fairly well. Mali join in the fun and games here.
Ghana vs Uganda
The group begins with two of those sides in that World Cup group meeting again. When they did battle in World Cup qualifying Ghana and Uganda drew 0-0 and with this being Uganda’s first appearance in the tournament in 39 years I’m not expecting them to be too expansive here.
Ghana go into the tournament high on reputation but low on form and it is the latter that really worries me. I’d rather watch them for a match first and see how they are set up and playing before I get too involved in their matches. With Uganda largely an unknown too sitting this one out looks the right move.
Mali vs Egypt
Mali have been an improving nation in Africa for a while now and they will be fancying their chances of progressing in this tournament. They face an Egypt side who have won the last three tournaments they have been in and who could be underrated in this competition.
Egypt might not boast the amount of star names others do but they know how to get it done in the final stages of events and that is something Mali are still learning. I’m a little concerned the Mali players need a game to get going too whereas Egypt have the quality in their side to beat anyone.
The state of the tournament dictates that this match might be closer than were it to take place later in the competition but I can’t get away from Egypt so them to win by one goal looks a good value play.

Back Egypt to beat Mali by 1 goal for a 3/10 stake at 3.70 with Coral
