The last 32 of the Austrian Darts Open will be played out in Vienna on Saturday as the leading players in the game do battle over a double session day of arrers each with the aim of getting themselves through to Sunday where the trophies and the significant money is dished out.
As with all these European Tour events we have to sit through the odd weak looking match to get to the good ones but the card on Saturday runs fairly strong and should produce some fine darts over the two sessions.
Afternoon Session
It all begins with Steve West taking on the qualifier Vincent van der Meer before Cristo Reyes and Rene Eidams meet in an all-European battle. Michael Smith is the first big name in action when he faces Chris Quantock before Mervyn King takes us to the interval with a clash against Zoran Lerchbacher.
Some heavy hitters come after the break as Alan Norris battles Jamie Bain before the matches of the afternoon see Benito van de Pas playing John Henderson, Daryl Gurney meeting Jonny Clayton and Stephen Bunting taking on Chris Dobey to round off the session in what looks a great match.
Evening Session
The evening looks pretty tasty too it must be said. Ian White is first up taking on Martin Schindler before Simon Whitlock faces Vincent van der Voort in arguably the match of the round. Kim Huybrechts then plays Rusty-Jake Rodriguez before Michael van Gerwen and Christian Kallinger collide before the interval.
Peter Wright gets the action going again when he plays Finland’s Kim Viljanen before Joe Cullen and Jamie Lewis do battle. The last two matches see Jelle Klaasen facing the ever improving Rob Cross and home star Mensur Suljovic takes on Ronny Huybrechts.

Betting
There are some competitive looking matches on the card on Saturday but I have it in my mind that shocks will be few and far between this weekend as the big guns get themselves ready for Blackpool so finding betting opportunities isn’t easy.
I took Jelle Klaasen on a couple of weeks ago in Germany and since then he has lost in the second round and the first round of the two latest Players Championship events. He goes up against a Rob Cross who must be buzzing heading this weekend.
Cross made the semi-finals in both events last week losing to the eventual winner on both occasions but that is his last four tour events he has made the semi-finals and he has won one of them too. The injury situation with Klaasen is unfortunate but it may not matter anyway as on current form Cross looks a very good thing here.
Tips
Back R.Cross to beat J.Klaasen for a 4/10 stake at 1.83 with Coral
