It is the final day of China Championship qualifying on Tuesday with another set of players looking to book their spot at the final stages of what is a pretty lucrative tournament in a couple of months time.
We’ve seen some big names on show who have by and large all safely made it through and there are still some to come on Tuesday in what is another three session day of action inside the Preston Guild Hall.
Morning Session
We have just the four matches in the morning with the two streamed tables being occupied by the matches between Michael White and Martin O’Donnell as well as Xiao Guodong and Hamza Akbar. The other two matches include an all-Iranian match between Hossein Vafaei and Soheil Vahedi and Li Hang taking on Joe Swail.
Afternoon Session
We have a couple of big names on one of the streamed tables on Tuesday as Ryan Day takes on Jimmy White. The other match under the spotlight will see Michael Holt going up against Kurt Dunham.
On the outside tables there are three more matches. Matthew Stevens takes on Ashley Hugill in one of them while Thepchaiya Un-Nooh goes up against Chris Totten in another. The final match sees Matthew Selt playing Peter Lines.
Evening Session
The big name in action on Tuesday is Neil Robertson and he faces Gerard Greene on one of the streamed tables in the evening with Tom Ford facing Yuan Sijun on the other. There is an all-Chinese battle on the outside tables when Yu Delu takes on Cao Yupeng and Chris Wakelin goes up against Fang Xiongman.

Betting
After two winners on Monday I’m going after another couple of winners on Tuesday. I think the fact that Michael White plays Martin O’Donnell on the streamed table will help the Welshman. O’Donnell doesn’t get the spotlight very often and while it is only a low key spotlight it is still a spotlight. White is used to the faster conditions and having sailed through his Riga Masters qualifier we know he’s in decent touch. I expect him to come through here with a bit to spare.
I’m also going to take a chance on Cao Yupeng in the all-Chinese battle in the evening. Yupeng hasn’t kicked on like we all thought he was going to a few years ago but he demolished Ricky Walden in the qualifying for the Riga Masters so maybe he is going to fulfil the promise he had. I’m not sure why Yu Delu pulled out of Riga Masters qualifying but whatever the reason was this will be his first match of the season and he is likely to be a little rusty. That match Yupeng has had and the confidence he will have taken from it could be the difference here.
