One Chinese snooker tournament has just concluded in terms of the World Open but on Tuesday the qualifying event for another begins when the International Championship qualifiers kick off at the Guild Hall in Preston.
The 128 players who have entered the tournament will try to win one best of 11 match over the four days of qualifying to make it through to the final stages next month. Eight matches have been held over to the main venue but we have four days of good action ahead of us. That begins over three sessions on Tuesday.
Morning Session
The streamed tables for the morning session sees Tom Ford taking on Scott Donaldson and Thepchaiya Un-Nooh going up against Sam Craigie. There are three other matches on the outside tables and they see Robbie Williams facing Anda Zhang, Gary Wilson meeting Thor Chuan Leong and Andrw Higginson up against Josh Boileau.
Afternoon Session
There are five matches to enjoy in the afternoon too with Ryan Day and Joe Perry the two big names gracing the live streamed tables. Day faces Chen Zifan while Perry takes on Paul Davison for a place in the main event. Elsewhere Michael Holt will meet Leo Fernandez, Alfie Burden plays Mei Xi Wen and Alan McManus faces Rod Lawler in what could be a battle of attrition.
Evening Session
After Mark Allen went deep in the World Open which saw his match cancelled from this session we are left with just three. Stuart Bingham will be on one of the main tables taking on Sean O’Sullivan while on the other Tian Pengfei and James Wattana do battle. The only other match taking place in the session will be the one between Jamie Jones and John Astley.

Betting
I’m going with two bets on Tuesday. They are both on the streamed tables too which is handy for keeping tabs on them. In the morning I like Thepchaiya Un-Nooh to come past Sam Craigie. I respect Craigie and like the way he plays but Un-Nooh is in a decent patch of form at the minute and if he can get into a scoring rhythm in this match I expect him to have too much for a Craigie, who apart from his win over a Judd Trump who was recovering from laser surgery, has done little this season.
I also like Tian Pengfei to come past James Wattana. I’ve mentioned in the past that I like backing Chinese players in these qualifying events for China tournaments. Their motivation is obvious and as it goes Tian is going along quite nicely this season. Wattana is a legend of the game but his prime is safely behind him. As long as Pengfei has no jet lag issues or anything of that sort he should have too much for the Thai.
Tips
Back T.Un-Nooh (-1.5 frames) to beat S.Craigie for a 4/10 stake at 1.91 with Coral
WON – Back T.Pengfei (-2 frames AH) to beat J.Wattana for a 4/10 stake at 1.85 with Bet365
