We have three matches in the NatWest T20 Blast on Wednesday night to get stuck into with some big players on show as both tables start to take shape as we head towards the second half of the group stage of the competition.
We have one TV match with the other two having the usual methods of being used to keep up to date on proceedings. Although it isn’t the first match to begin we start this preview with the TV match.

Yorkshire vs Durham
High flying Yorkshire take on a Durham side who look a beaten outfit at the minute in the TV game. Yorkshire will go to the top of the North Group table with a win here while Durham are as good as out already having failed to stick the slightest dent in their four point deduction.
Yorkshire have been piling up the runs in this tournament and while they have been loose with the ball at times they have had enough with the bat to get over the line. Durham have bowled poorly and batted even worse and you wonder if they will win a match in the tournament now.
I expect Yorkshire to win this but they are no price at all and at some point Durham will release the shackles and upset someone. The match outcome is not for me but a performance is and that is the one for David Willey. His scores with the bat so far have been 25, 42, 23*, 70 and 118 and in four of those five matches he has taken a wicket as well. He is a dynamic enough fielder on top so even though a line of 44.5 looks high the evidence suggests it isn’t high enough. I’m on the overs.
There haven’t been many in the Durham side who have impressed in this campaign but Paul Coughlin has done his best especially with the bat. He has 42*, 29 and 23 in his last three knocks and if the Yorkshire seamers can deal with the top order he could easily take advantage in the middle order and land the top score.
Somerset vs Hampshire
Two sides in mid-table in the South Group meet in what is a pretty important match. Somerset head in having won their last two completed games while Hampshire have lost their last two so it will be interesting to see if those streaks continue.
I was tempted to get involved with the sixes in this match but there is a horrible band of weather in the area prior to this game and while it might clear for the game to be played the pitch will be under cover so it might do a bit which puts me off getting involved.
Nottinghamshire vs Worcestershire
Both Nottinghamshire and Worcestershire have had different starts to the tournament with the home side right up in the mix in the North Group and the visitors are yet to win a match so it is easy to see why Nottinghamshire are the favourites here.
That said they have had the schedule go against them after they played in Durham on Tuesday night. They won’t have got back from there until very late and then they have to play this match so Worcestershire have an excellent chance of winning. That said I can’t be jumping on a team yet to win.
A trend of both sides in this tournament has been the number of runs they have conceded and to a lesser extent the amount of runs they have scored and there is no reason why this won’t be another high scoring match. We’ve seen some crazy scores at Trent Bridge in one day cricket in the last 15 months or so and a runs line of 342.5 does not score me. We’ve seen 449 and 247 in 25.1 overs in the two matches on this ground this season and another 175+ contest awaits I fancy.
