2017 NFL – Houston Texans at Baltimore Ravens Betting Preview

There is one match left in Week 12 of the NFL season and it comes from Baltimore as the Baltimore Ravens host the Houston Texans in an AFC battle. Both sides have struggled for consistencies over the season thus far but someone will pick up a big win here.

Baltimore go into the contest at 5-5 for the season knowing a big end to the campaign could yet extend their season while the Texans are 4-6 but would only be two wins adrift in their division if they can win here.

Baltimore Ravens

Consistency has eluded the Ravens this season. When they get things going on offense then they are a very tough side to beat but when their offense doesn’t fire they can get well beaten so you never truly know which side is going to turn up. Their last two wins have been without conceding a single point so when they are good they are very good.

The Ravens defence ranks seventh overall and is second against the pass so that gives them a solid platform to perform with. Their offensive struggles have generally been when they have had injuries with the likes of Mike Wallace and Jeremy Maclin out injured at various times. The lack of quarterback protection is a big issue though.

Houston Texans

The Texans season took a turn for the worse once they lost dynamic quarterback Deshaun Watson but they did win last week so they have something to build on here. Tom Savage is nothing like as solid or reliable as Watson but if his playmakers around him can help him out he could be competitive as unlikely as that seems.

In seasons past the Texans would rely on their defence to keep them in matches but the injuries and suspensions they have had on that side of the ball have hampered them too. Their best hope is to play mistake free football and hope that they can force a turnover which can change the tide of a match or win them it.

Betting

This is a hard match to bet on because nobody truly knows which Baltimore Ravens will turn up but even then I do think they are more reliable on both sides of the ball which has to count for something at the end of the day.

They are much the better side defensively and with the Houston offense patchy at best that should give the home side a big advantage. Baltimore may lack for plenty on offense at times but they might not need 30pts or anything like to cover 7.5pts. If they get 20pts that should be enough and I fancy they will do that.
