Another week of NFL matches kicks off on Thursday night and it does so with a really big divisional battle as the Atlanta Falcons host the New Orleans Saints in the NFC South at the Mercedes Benz Stadium.
The Saints go into the match with a two game lead on the Falcons but an Atlanta win here would close that right up in what is fast becoming the most exciting divisional race in the NFL this season.
Atlanta Falcons
If the Falcons are going to make it to back to back Super Bowls they are going to need to get winning run going soon. They go into the match with a 7-5 record and there is nothing wrong with that but two sides sit above them in their division and with others closing in on them for a wildcard spot Atlanta can’t afford to lose here.
The difference between this Falcons side and the one from last season has been the output of their offense. They have not been quite the force on that side of the ball and that is understandable with their offensive coordinator having left them. On the bright side they have a very solid pass rush and competent backfield.
New Orleans Saints
It has been a while but the New Orleans Saints are Super Bowl contenders again and there are a couple of reasons for that. One is that their offense is much better balanced this season with them hugely competent in the passing game and on the ground and the other is that their defence is playing much better overall too.
The Saints remain a side who will need to win matches through their offense. That is just how they are set up but they do have a defence who can make plays to help them out which is important. Drew Brees has been there and seen it all which helps them and a young set of personnel around him seem to be inspiring him.

Betting
Although they have been on the drift all day I like the New Orleans Saints in this one. I just think they are the more complete side and I trust their offense more than I do Atlanta’s and I don’t see the Atlanta defence going that much better than the Saints one.
New Orleans have got in a nice groove of winning matches having won nine of their last 10 and that confidence coupled with the potency of their offense makes them value in my eyes at 6/5.
