The Royal London One Day Cup continues on Bank Holiday Monday when two more matches in the North Group take place. We are still in the early stages of this tournament but the round robin phase is so cutthroat that every match is important.
Warwickshire continue their title defence on Monday when they host Durham but it is the other match which gets the TV treatment which isn’t a surprise as it is the Roses battle between Yorkshire and Lancashire at Headingley. We’ll begin with that one.

Yorkshire vs Lancashire
The Roses clash for this competition has come at a good time as both sides have their England stars that aren’t in the Indian Premier League available which should add to the quality of the cricket on show. Yorkshire will be looking to build on their opening win on Saturday while Lancashire will be out to bounce back from Friday’s defeat to Leicestershire.
Yorkshire were very dominant in their win over Nottinghamshire which has to bode well for them here. They faced Nottinghamshire near enough at their strongest so that was a real standout victory. Lancashire failed to defend 300 against Leicestershire and you would feel that will have sent some panic through their side.
When these two sides met last season Lancashire were blown away and while I don’t think they will be beaten to quite that level here we have to acknowledge that Yorkshire are the better side here and with everyone available they are going to take some beating. I think they have a good margin in hand of Lancashire and that should equate to them winning by a wide enough total to cover the handicap.
Liam Livingstone has been making big noises with his bat this season and there is already talk that he will be playing for England in some way by the end of the summer. I certainly agree with that and he has the platform to push his credentials further here. He top scored in both T20 matches against Yorkshire last season and already has a monumental Championship ton to his name this season. At 9/2 he’s fair enough value in the Lancashire top batsman market.
Warwickshire vs Durham
Warwickshire’s title defence began in style on Thursday and they go into their match with Durham as strong favourites to win. Durham were unable to fully wipe out their point deduction on Thursday when the rain denied them the opportunity to finish their match with Derbyshire.
Warwickshire are a good side in this format of the game and they will take a lot of beating but Durham have extra motivation to perform this season and with Mark Wood in their side you would have to say they are likely to be competitive here. I don’t want to oppose Warwickshire but with the Wood influence for Durham I don’t want to back them either.
