Although we are right in the middle of the NatWest T20 Blast it wouldn’t be the English domestic season if we didn’t have a completely random round of Specsavers County Championship matches and they begin on Sunday when seven fixtures take place across the two divisions.
Division One
The big match of the week in this division comes from Scarborough where Yorkshire host the leaders Essex. The two sides in second and third meet at the Ageas Bowl when Hampshire host Lancashire while there is a big match for Warwickshire at Lord’s when they head to the champions Middlesex.
Division Two
The leaders Nottinghamshire have the chance to extend their lead at the top when they make the short trip to Derby to take on Derbyshire while two sides who will be aiming to follow them up meet at New Road when Worcestershire host Sussex. Northamptonshire host Gloucestershire and Durham head to Leicestershire in the other two matches.

Betting
This clearly is not an easy set of fixtures to bet on because most of the minds are on T20 cricket but I am going to go with one bet. Worcestershire have played T20 matches in each of the last two days so how they were supposed to prepare for the longer format I’ve no idea.
In fairness Sussex only had one day off but at least it was long enough to have a net session before making the trip up to Worcester. I would not be surprised to see Worcestershire need a while to get into the mindset of four day cricket. Sussex have a bowling attack that can take any side apart and at odds against they are a pretty obvious pick.
