2017 UK Open Darts – Quarter Finals Betting Preview

The UK Open will finish on Sunday with a busy day of darting action in Minehead. The final day begins with the quarter finals in the afternoon before the rest of the tournament in the evening and with some big names out there is a wide open feel to the event from here on in.

Time restrictions will deny us the chance of previewing the semi-finals and final but we do have an outright bet running for us which will hopefully go all the way and keep the interest high. We can preview the quarter finals though so here goes.

Kim Huybrechts vs Alan Norris

Two men who will fancy their chances over the course of the day open up the action and it wouldn’t be a surprise if the winner of this wins the tournament. Kim Huybrechts had to survive a match dart against Joe Cullen in the previous round while Alan Norris has cruised through the draw so far.

I think this one has the potential to go all the way but with my money already invested in Norris I’m not going to go in again. I’ll just hope he can win and set up a nervy but exciting evening.

Ian White vs Gerwyn Price

The two dark horses if you like meet in the second match of the afternoon. I think it is fair to say whoever wins this match will be the outsider to win the tournament but they might like that given that they are not regulars at this stage of big events.

Ian White has played some good stuff in the tournament so far while Price has too so you would think this will come down to whoever settles the quickest. That is impossible to predict in advance though so I’ll sit this one out.

Simon Whitlock vs Daryl Gurney

Two men who are real class acts and who can catapult themselves into the top 10 in the world rankings and everything that comes with it go up against each other in this one and whoever comes through here would have every chance of going all the way.

I’m expecting a cracking match between two real form horses here. Both have been ploughing in 180s in this tournament so far and I see no reason why that is going to stop now. Daryl Gurney hits them for absolute fun while Simon Whitlock just banged in eight against O’Connor in the last round. A 10.5 180 line is well within the reach of these two.

Peter Wright vs Raymond Barneveld

The two favourites to win the tournament clash in the pick of the quarter finals in a real heavyweight showdown when Peter Wright takes on Raymond Barneveld. Whoever comes through this one will be expected to go all the way and make no doubt about it both will think they can win the tournament.

I mentioned when these two met in the Premier League last week that they have a habit of playing out close and tight matches. That night they drew 6-6 and I’m expecting this to be every bit as tight given what is at stake. Unless one of them has a total mare on the doubles I would be surprised if either wins this by more than a break of throw so 10-7 or closer either way looks a distinct possibility. With that in mind I’ll take over 16.5 legs.
