The semi-finals of the World Championship Snooker come to an end inside the Crucible Theatre on Saturday and by the end of the night we will know which two snooker players will be competing for the world title over the weekend.
There are three sessions of play on Saturday with the second semi-final having the morning and the evening session and the high quality first semi concluding in the afternoon.
Day 14 Recap
Friday was dominated by the Mark Selby vs Ding Junhui clash. Ding took a 5-3 lead into the first of their two sessions on Friday but that was soon wiped out as Selby took the morning session 6-2 to open up a 9-7 lead. They returned in the evening session and played out the best session of snooker seen at the Crucible Theatre for many a year to end locked at 12-12.
The other semi-final couldn’t reach the heights of the first one and it is John Higgins who will go into the third session on Saturday in control of it. He leads Barry Hawkins 10-6 after winning both sessions so far 5-3.

Betting
My bets in the John Higgins and Barry Hawkins match look like producing a winner and a loser but I’ll make a few quid from them so I’ll let that one play out but having already landed the overs in centuries in the Mark Selby and Ding Junhui match and near enough certain to get the frame overs too I’ll allow myself one more bet in that match.
It comes on Ding Junhui who I have been so impressed with in this match. He has four centuries but his last two after Selby had thrown the kitchen sink at him to come from 12-10 down to 12-12 were special. I’m not sure what else Selby can throw at Ding here. Ding just looks like he is going to repel anything and if he can get in front again he might not be for catching.
In fairness this one deserves to go the distance. It might well do that but when the finalist is confirmed I think it will be Ding Junhui lining up for the photos ahead of Sunday.
