Another set of Premier League matches begins on Saturday and with eight fixtures on the card we should be set for a very good day of football, one which features many of the title protagonists which will ensure the quality is good.
It is a Saturday in which we have the usual three kick off times so there is much to enjoy over the course of the afternoon and into the evening. There looks to be some competitive action in among it across the matches too.
Early Kick Off
The day begins at Craven Cottage where Fulham take on high flying Watford in something of a London derby. Both sides will think they can win this match which should make for a decent contest. It is probably a bigger match for the home side than Watford as the Hornets have already eased much of the pressure that might have been on them with their beginning to the campaign.
3pm Matches
The champions Manchester City are in action at the regular kick off time. They travel to Cardiff City for what is something of a grudge match. The big contenders also show up at this time of day too when Liverpool face their feeder club Southampton while Burnley host a Bournemouth side who have made a great start to the season.
Crystal Palace will look to build on last week’s win when they host a Newcastle side who might be glad not to be facing one of the big six for once. Leicester City take on struggling Huddersfield Town at the King Power Stadium and the Championship winners Wolves make the trip to Old Trafford for an interesting game with Manchester United.
Late Game
After all that is done the show heads to Sussex where Brighton and Hove Albion will look to pile more pressure on Tottenham Hotspur when the two sides meet at the Amex. Both sides are under duress here. Brighton’s awful away record means their home form is pivotal if they are to survive. Tottenham could really do with any kind of win to get the vultures off their back for a little while at least.

Betting
Goals served me well in the Premier League last week and there are a couple of goal bets I like this week too. The first of them comes in the opening match where we should see an open game between Fulham and Watford. Both sides will see this as a match they believe they can win which always helps as both will be going for the victory. Neither defence has shown up to be particularly strong but there is a lot of pace and dynamism in both attacks. Since the opening week of the season every match these two have been involved in has had three or more goals. I think the chances of this following suit are high.
Brighton have been known for their defensive strength but that has not been the case this season, especially at the Amex where they have played twice and conceded twice in both matches. Tottenham have shown a real vulnerability this season too with their only clean sheet being at Old Trafford and they could have been four or five down at half time in that match if United were more clinical. Brighton need a result here so they’ll have to have a go. Spurs need a win too so over 2.5 can land here as well.
