The Premier League weekend concludes with ‘derby day’ on Sunday as three local derbies take place one after another on what should be yet another belting day of football action. Christmas is coming so points are even more precious here than they normally would be.
The top end of the table is in focus throughout the day but in the early stages the bottom of it is in the spotlight as well so everything really is there for a top class day of football with six hours of non-stop action awaits us.
Chelsea vs Fulham (12.00)
It is west-London that gets the day underway when Chelsea look to bounce back from their defeat to Tottenham Hotspur last week when they take on Fulham at Stamford Bridge. Fulham won last week and another one here would move them away from the bottom of the table so their incentive is even bigger than usual.
I’m not really comfortable betting on this match. I say that because Chelsea have started to look a little vulnerable while we are yet to see how Fulham will perform on the road under Claudio Ranieri and I always like to see how a side plays before I get stuck in. Throw in Chelsea’s Europa League clash on Thursday night and this is an easy one to swerve.
Arsenal vs Tottenham (14.05)
It is then north-London that takes centre stage when Arsenal play host to their bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the big match of the day. Three points are between the two heading into the match so whoever wins this will finish above the other.
Arsenal have shown their quality the longer this season has gone on but I still think they are vulnerable to the better sides but the one thing we know about them is they can score against anyone. I guess you would say the same about Tottenham looking at their record against the better teams in the league too.
That all makes me think that we are going to see goals in this match. In fairness this is a fixture with a historical trend for plenty of goals and given the quality both have in their attacking ranks it makes perfect sense for over 3 goals to land.

Liverpool vs Everton (16.15)
The pressure has been piled onto Liverpool when they take on Everton in the first Merseyside derby of the season at Anfield in the final match of the three. Manchester City went five points clear of Liverpool with their win on Saturday and you get the feeling the Reds need to respond here.
Everton head into this match with probably the best team they have had in a number of years. Not just their best team but players who are used to the big occasion and have a composure in it and that makes them dangerous. I think the onus is on Liverpool to go after Everton here which will play into the Toffees hands too.
We should get something of an end-to-end match here given the way the two sides like to play and with that in mind I believe both teams to score could be the way to take on this closing match of a fantastic day.
