We begin September with another full round of matches in Sky Bet League 1 on Saturday afternoon and with the table beginning to take shape each of the 24 teams in the division will be eager to bank the three points to enhance their positions.
Some clubs have had it tough with a Carabao Cup match in midweek which means this will be their seventh match in 22 days and it will be interesting to see how much those sides have to offer.
Saturday’s fixtures are as follows:
Accrington Stanley v Scunthorpe United
Barnsley v Gillingham
Burton Albion v AFC Wimbledon
Coventry City v Rochdale
Fleetwood Town v Bradford City
Peterborough United v Doncaster Rovers
Portsmouth v Plymouth Argyle
Shrewsbury Town v Bristol Rovers
Southend United v Charlton Athletic
Sunderland v Oxford United
Walsall v Blackpool
Wycombe Wanderers v Luton Town
Big Matches
The leaders Peterborough United host their former manager Grant McCann and his Doncaster Rovers side at London Road on Saturday afternoon. The whole of the top three are at home on Saturday with Sunderland in second place welcoming Oxford United to the Stadium of Light and Portsmouth in third playing host to Plymouth Argyle. Barnsley have made a good start to their campaign and they welcome Gillingham to Oakwell.
Best of the Rest
Two promoted sides meet at Adams Park when Wycombe Wanderers go up against Luton Town while Walsall in fourth place host Blackpool in a match they will be expected to win. Fleetwood Town are the other side in the top six heading into the weekend and Bradford City will be their visitors on Saturday.

Betting
Peterborough United have started the season wonderfully well and I see no reason why that won’t continue when they play host to Doncaster Rovers who have hit the buffers after a positive start to the campaign. Peterborough are the most vibrant attacking side I’ve seen in the division so far and I’m not convinced that Doncaster have the defensive resoluteness to keep them at bay. Doncaster will be game opponents but Peterborough look too strong to me.
Walsall have made a strong start to the season. They play host to Blackpool on Saturday afternoon and while the Tangerines have only lost once this term they’ve only won once and in truth their draws with Wycombe, Accrington and Shrewsbury aren’t going to look that great come the end of the season. Walsall have won four of their five matches and are performing well. They have won from in front and from behind which is always good for us punters. I think they are a good bet with all the draw cover available.
Tips
HALF LOSS – Back Peterborough (-0.25AH) to beat Doncaster for a 4/10 stake at 2.10 with BetVictor
PUSH – Back Walsall (0AH) to beat Blackpool for a 4/10 stake at 1.90 with BetVictor
