The second night of the UEFA Nations League takes place on Friday as another bunch of countries get their campaigns underway. We saw a competitive first evening of the competition on Thursday and I’m expecting more of the same here.
Once again all of the matches are available live on TV for those of us in the UK and there is plenty to enjoy across the continent with implications for a couple of the home nations. There is much to look forward to here.
Group A
As with Thursday we have one match in the elite group. This one comes from A3 where our pre-tournament pick Italy have the chance to showcase their talents. They open up against one of the more disappointing sides from the World Cup in the summer in Poland, who will be looking to show they are better than their performances there.
Group B
There is only the one match in the second group too. It comes from B2 where Turkey will be looking to make up for not making it through to the World Cup in the summer when they take on the hosts of that tournament Russia, who will be out to show that their run to the quarter finals was no home advantaged fluke.
Group C
This is one of the busier groups on Friday evening with three matches. The first of them comes from C1 which is Scotland’s group. Albania take on Israel so all Scottish eyes could be on that if they can’t bear to watch their side in friendly action. In C4 there are two more matches. Serbia looked to be in the wrong group to begin with and they will hope to show that against Lithuania while Romania host Montenegro in what looks like a competitive game.
Group D
There are just the two matches in Group D on Friday evening and they both come from D3 where Azerbaijan take on Kosovo in the earlier kick off of the two matches before the Faroe Islands host Malta in a match I would imagine both teams will feel they can win and get their group stage off to a good start.

Betting
After opening up the tournament with a winner I’m not going to go too mad on Friday night with just the one bet that interests me. I must admit I am tempted to back an improving Faroe Islands side against Malta but it doesn’t feel right to be on the Faroes as favourites. I’ll go elsewhere though.
Serbia looked really good to me in the World Cup and I expect them to kick on and have a good campaign both here and in the Euro 2020 qualifiers not to mention the tournament itself should they get there. They have a lot of players in good form at the minute and should have far too much for Lithuania. Lithuania could only draw with Malta in World Cup qualifying not so long ago and aren’t really showing much both as a nation or in European club competition. I really like what I see from Serbia these days and given that they have called up all their big guns I think we should expect them to cover a goal on the Asian lines.
