The second day of the Miami Open sees the first round of the tournament come to a close with another action packed day at the Floridian event. The seeded players come in from Friday onwards and those on show on Thursday will be looking to book an appointment with one of them.

Day 1 Recap
With the level of players on show it would be difficult to describe any of the results as upsets but there were a few household names who bit the dust on the opening day such as the likes of Gilles Simon and Ivo Karlovic. American rising star Taylor Fritz also exited the tournament at the earliest opportunity.
It was a safe day for us betting wise with both our recommended bets landing relatively comfortably to get us off to a nice start for the tournament. Benoit Paire came from a set down which he sacked off from an early stage to win in three while Jared Donaldson dominated Marcos Baghdatis in an entertaining contest.
Stadium Court
Only two men’s matches take place on the Stadium Court as the women’s event runs alongside the male one. That means in the day session we have Leonardo Mayer going up against Donald Young and in the night session Frances Tiafoe takes to the court to Nicolas Kicker in what may turn out to be a close encounter.
Grandstand
There is a lot more action on the Grandstand court. Next gen star Denis Shapovalov goes up against Viktor Troicki to open up the play before Guillermo Garcia-Lopez meets the Australian Open quarter finalist Tennys Sandgren. Steve Johnson then rounds off the day session against the veteran Victor Estrella Burgos. After a doubles match to start the night session Denis Istomin then plays the talented youngster Miomir Kecmanovic.
Court 1
The qualifier Alex de Minaur takes on the Japanese player Yoshihito Nishioka to get things underway on Court 1 and then after a women’s match Stefanos Tsitsipas goes up against Daniil Medvedev for a place in the second round. The action on this court concludes with a battle of the qualifiers as Thanasi Kokkinakis takes on Calvin Hemery.
Best of the Rest
There are some good matches around the grounds on Thursday too. Out on Court 2 the likes of Evgeny Donskoy and Dusan Lajovic are in action against Aljax Bedene and Horacio Zeballos respectively. The likes of Ricardas Berankis and Thomas Fabbiano are also dotted around the complex on the second day of action too.

Betting
After a decent day on Wednesday to begin the tournament I’m going to go with just the one on Thursday ahead of the tournament really cracking into life on Friday when the bigger names enter the fray.
There is a lot of hype around Miomir Kecmanovic after his record as a junior but he hasn’t exactly been lighting up the Challenger scene in recent times and he has been drawn against a canny veteran Denis Istomin who has seen it all before in the game. Istomin hasn’t been pulling up trees in recent times either but he began the season well and generally goes well on a hard court. This is the sort of match Istomin should be able to get his teeth into and if he can get the upper hand early his young opponent may well lack the experience to get back into the contest. I’ll side with Istomin here.
Tips
WON – Back D.Istomin to beat M.Kecmanovic for a 4/10 stake at 1.83 with Boylesports
