It is the penultimate day of the qualifying event for the China Championship on Tuesday with yet another bunch of players looking to secure their places on the plane to China next month to compete in the main draw.
The big names keep on coming on Tuesday with a number of them on show and looking to book their spot in the hugely lucrative main draw out in China later in the campaign. As ever we have three sessions over the course of the day.
Morning Session
Michael White will be the main man on show in the first session of the day when he goes up against Oliver Lines on one of the streamed tables. Anthony Hamilton is likely to be on the other when he faces up to Soheil Vahedi. The matches on the outside tables sees Jamie Jones meeting Adam Stefanow, Alan McManus playing Allan Taylor, Robert Milkins up against Chris Totten and Ben Woollaston taking on Alexander Ursenbacher.
Afternoon Session
John Higgins is the star on show on one of the main tables in the afternoon session. He meets Duane Jones while on the other show table David Gilbert looks to continue his good form when he goes up against Kishan Hirani. The outside tables have some interesting looking matches on it when Peter Ebdon meets Harvey Chandler, Hossein Vafaei takes on Chen Zifan and Gary Wilson goes up against Fan Zhengyi.
Evening Session
Barry Hawkins will be the centre of attention in the evening session. He faces the German player Simon Lichtenberg on one of the streamed tables while on the other Anthony McGill will go up against the veteran Joe Swail. Matthew Selt occupies one of the outside tables when he takes on Jamie Clarke while Mark King meets Zhang Jiankang on another of them. Dominic Dale against Sam Craigie looks the pick of the evening matches from a competitive point of view.

Betting
This hasn’t been the best qualifying event for me so far so I’m not going to go too mad here but there is one bet which catches my eye over the course of the day and it comes in the afternoon session where I’m expecting Hossein Vafaei to come through.
Chen Zifan has only won four frames in four matches this season and has only made one break over 50 in the entire campaign. Needless to say he is yet to win a match this term and if you go back to last season he has only won one match since the Northern Ireland Open in November. He isn’t getting close in many matches either. He lost 10-1 in the first round of World Championship qualifying and his confidence must be shot. Vafaei has already established himself on the tour and is undefeated this season. He only started his season at the beginning of this week of qualifiers but he has scored nicely and the more he plays the more there will be to come from him. I expect the Iranian to cruise through this one.
Tips
WON – Back H.Vafaei (-2.5 frames) to beat C.Zifan for a 4/10 stake at 2.20 with Betfair
