2018 German Darts Grand Prix – Last 32 Betting Preview

The seeded players join the fray in the German Darts Grand Prix on Sunday which should add to the quality of the tournament. We have a busy day in store too as they entire last 32 is played across the two sessions in Munich.

That means we will see the likes of Michael van Gerwen, Peter Wright, Rob Cross, Daryl Gurney and many others grace the stage on what should be a competitive day of action and a very tight one to boot.

Afternoon Session

The day gets underway when Premier League star Gerwyn Price takes on the youngster Luke Humphries before Dave Chisnall faces Darren Webster in what is one of the matches of the afternoon. Kim Huybrechts then meets Steve West with Mervyn King and the home favourite Max Hopp meeting in the final match before the interval.

Kyle Anderson and the veteran Alan Tabern will do battle immediately after the break before stablemates Simon Whitlock and Keegan Brown face each other. Alan Norris takes on the Spanish star Toni Alcinas in what could be a trappy match for Chuck in the penultimate match of the afternoon with the session closing with a match between Daryl Gurney and Ryan Meikle.

Evening Session

Adrian Lewis was meant to be involved in the first match of the evening session but he lost on Saturday so Joe Cullen will face Yordi Meeuwisse instead. Ian White then goes up against Stephen Bunting in one of the matches of the evening before Jelle Klaasen faces James Wade in another. Michael Smith plays his stablemate Chris Dobey to take us into the interval.

Peter Wright will be first man on stage after the break when he faces the youngster Josh Payne. There is then an all-European battle between Mensur Suljovic and Danny Noppert before Michael van Gerwen faces Steve Lennon. The final match of the day sees the world champion Rob Cross going up against Jonny Clayton.

Betting

I like a couple of bets over the course of the day with the first of them being in the opening contest. That sees an out of form Gerwyn Price on stage against the confident youngster Luke Humphries and given how well the qualifier is playing I think he is worth a chance here. Humphries lost in the first round in Germany last week but registered a 99.55 average so did nothing wrong. He averaged 95 this time in a win on Saturday so he’s in good nick. We know Gerwyn Price isn’t enjoying life on the oche at the minute and he might just be vulnerable here. Humphries is overpriced in this one.

In the evening session I fancy Stephen Bunting to come through against Ian White. White is in an all or nothing spell at the minute. He won a tour event two weekends ago but then has lost early in every tournament around that. Bunting is slowly getting back to his best and his win and 101.33 average on Saturday evening should have him brimming with confidence here. Bunting has won the last two meetings between these two and can complete a hat trick in this one.
