The Mzansi Super League continues on Friday with another double header in the competition as the league phase of the tournament heads towards and beyond the halfway stage. The race for third place is back in the spotlight on what should be a cracking day of cricket.
The weather in South Africa finally looks like it is going to play ball for us so we should be in for a couple of belting contests with points very much needed by at least three of the four teams in action on the day.
Nelson Mandela Bay Giants vs Paarl Rocks
We get underway in Port Elizabeth as the Nelson Mandela Bay Giants play host to the Paarl Rocks in a clash that sees second in the table taking on the team in third. The Bay Giants can put one foot in the knockout stages with a win here and close in on top spot while the Rocks need a victory to keep the chasing pack at bay.
I have to say I like how Paarl Rocks are getting stronger in this tournament. Some of that has been the rain helping them but they have definitely been helped by the South African players coming back, especially with the bat where they now look more than competitive. I’m still unsure about the Bay Giants with the bat and that is a real concern of mine.
The Mandela side deserve credit for what they offer with the ball but I don’t think Paarl Rocks are too far behind them in that department with Tabraiz Shamsi now around again. The Bay Giants batting just really worries me and with the likes of Faf du Plessis, Aiden Markram, Vaughn van Jaarsveld and Henry Davids going for them I’ll take Paark to make it a third win on the spin.

Jozi Stars vs Durban Heat
The bigger match of the two on Friday is the one from Johannesburg where the Jozi Stars host the Durban Heat in what is a clash between the bottom two in the table. Both teams need a win here to stay in touch with the top three places.
Both these teams have flattered to deceive over the last couple of weeks and have seen their bowling attacks get carted and on this ground I’m expecting the batsmen to take advantage of that weakness once again. I’m expecting the sixes to flow here once again as they did in the previous match and with that in mind I’m happy to take over 11.5 sixes.
