We are back in Johannesburg for the Mzansi Super League match on Saturday evening as the Jozi Stars take on the early pacesetters Cape Town Blitz in the one match to take place on the day at The Wanderers.
The Blitz have the early chance to put a bit of distance between themselves and some of the teams in the competition with a win here while the Stars will close the gap on them if they can come out on top themselves.
Jozi Stars
The Jozi Stars have only played two matches and they have been chalk and cheese so far. In the first match they were useless with the bat and almost rescued things while in the second match they put up arguably the best performance of the tournament so far and ran out very convincing winners. It goes without saying that they will be looking for much more of the latter than the former.
One thing that is in their favour if they do continue to struggle with the bat at any point is that they have a very good bowling attack that can deliver the goods. They haven’t really been got at in either of their two matches and that is never a bad thing. When it does all come together for the Stars they are going to deliver some big wins.
Cape Town Blitz
If you had scripted a perfect start for a team then the Cape Town Blitz can’t be too far from delivering it. They have won their three matches to date and have won them all by pretty comfortable margins. It might be a concern going forward if they are not made to work hard at any point but for now they will be enjoying not having too much nervous energy being used up.
The new ball bowling of the Blitz has been one of the reasons behind their success. Dale Steyn has been in good nick and he has been well supported by his colleagues. The other reason why they have gone well is they have had some very good cameos by individuals with the bat. They haven’t put what you would call a complete performance together with the willow to date but that will come.
Team News
Chris Gayle is away at the T10 tournament so he will not be available for the Jozi Stars in this match. That means Rassie van der Dussen is set to continue to open the batting. Beuran Hendricks will be key with the ball.
Cape Town Blitz may well be unchanged from their last outing with all eyes on Dale Steyn on a ground that will suit him down to the ground. Quinton de Kock and Farhaan Behardien will be looking to deliver ahead of the international period to come for South Africa.

Betting
The pitch for the first match at The Wanderers was pretty ordinary but I’m expecting a much better strip here and as such I’m expecting a much better game to watch and the bat to dominate in this tournament once again. We all know how the ball flies here and the ideal of this tournament is to see it happen.
The sixes line here is a touch on the low side at 10.5. I suspect that is down to the pitch produced for the first match but if this one is better than that, and it would struggle to be as bad, then I’m expecting the sixes to flow. Both batting line ups have found form with a couple of matches under their belt and over 10.5 sixes should land as a result.
