We move into the second half of the Nedbank Golf Challenge on Saturday as the 72 man field will all look to make their moves ahead of potentially landing some big money in the final round of the event on Sunday.
We now have just six rounds of the European Tour season left so with every shot crucial at this stage with the huge amounts of money up for grabs over the next few days the action is likely to be compelling from here on in.

Round 2 Recap
Sergio Garcia maintained his lead at the top of the leaderboard but he shot his advantage shaved to just a solitary shot. He is now on nine under par, one ahead of Louis Oosthuizen who is on eight under. There is a gap between them and Mikko Korhonen who sits in third on six under. There is a quartet of players on four under par. They include our pre-tournament outright bet Lee Westwood along with Shane Lowry, Aaron Rai and Dylan Frittelli. Haotong Li and Matt Wallace are among a large group of players on three under.
It was another annoying day for our three ball bets on Friday with Benjamin Hebert triple bogeying a hole and bogeying two of the last four to lose by two so I’m hoping for better in those as we go along over the course of the weekend.
Saturday Betting
We have a fully fledged third round leader market which merits a look but the problem is it is a two horse racing barring something quite unique and the market reflects the position of the two likely leaders which is never a place you want to bet on because the edge isn’t in our favour. Were both of the front two to slip up then there could be some value to be had with the likes of Lowry and Grace big prices but it is hard to see both of the leaders fading on Saturday. With that in mind I’ll head to the three balls for a bet.

Saturday 3 Balls
The final trio on the golf course sees Sergio Garcia, Louis Oosthuizen and Mikko Korhonen and they are out at 08.10 GMT with the three ball out before then consisting of Aaron Rai, Shane Lowry and Dylan Frittelli who go off at 07.59 GMT. There are some great groups out onto the golf course on Saturday and I’ve got a bet in one of the earlier ones for my punt across the third round.
Julien Guerrier/Ashun Wu/Matthew Fitzpatrick
Match tees off at 07.15 GMT
Three men who have had good seasons so far head off in one of the earlier groups off the first tee on Saturday when the French player Julien Guerrier pairs up against Ashun Wu and Matthew Fitzpatrick on what is ‘Moving Day’.
All three men begin the round on two under, seven off the lead but only two strokes off fourth place so there is every chance that this could be a big weekend for each of them. There isn’t a whole lot between them in terms of game style so I’m happy to just back the better player who has more experience at this stage of a big tournament and that is obviously Fitzpatrick. He is someone who should have a much better record in this tournament than he does given his class but he has gone along quite nicely in this competition and I expect him to step it up on Saturday. If he does he should have the beating of these two.
