The first night of the PDC World Cup of Darts sees the number one seeds Scotland in action when they compete in one of the eight matches which take place inside the Eissporthalle in Frankfurt.
With the format the best of nine legs in a doubles situation we know there are going to be shocks and surprises on what will be a nervy night for the four seeds in action as they bid to book their places in the last 16.
Early Matches
We get underway with a clash between Italy and Canada which means that we see three-time world champion John Part on the stage right from the off. After them Russia play Spain in what could be one of the more even contests on the night. Switzerland take on China in the third match which means we get to see the sole female in the event in Momo Zhou. Denmark take on Brazil in a match which could go either way to take us to the halfway stage of the evening.
Late Matches
The seeds come out to play in the second half of the evening and the first of those are Wales. They take on Thailand in a match you would expect the Welsh pair to win and then Australia face the potentially awkward test of Hong Kong. One of the matches of the opening day sees the number one seeds Scotland taking on the United States of America before the first day of action concludes with Austria facing Japan.

Betting
There will be shocks and surprises over the course of the evening and backing odds on shots in this format is certainly not advisable. The trick is to picking where the upsets will come. I’ll go with one bet on the opening night.
I’m not sure if USA will cause an upset and beat Scotland but the 10/11 on them winning two legs is attractive enough. Whichever way this match pans out in terms of who throws first the Scots will have to break throw twice over a short distance to cover this handicap and I’m not so sure that will happen. Gary Anderson and Peter Wright rarely gel well and the duo were beaten by Singapore in this round last year. Darin Young and Larry Butler have twice won their first round match here and took a couple of legs off the Dutch a few years ago. Winning might be beyond them but winning a couple of legs is not so I’ll take them with the 3.5 leg handicap.
Tips
Back USA (+3.5 legs) to beat Scotland for a 4/10 stake at 1.91 with Coral
