2018 PDC World Darts Championship – Day 4 Afternoon Session Betting Preview

We have another double header day of action at the PDC World Darts Championship on Sunday with one in the afternoon and another in the evening. Sometimes the afternoon sessions can lack quality but that doesn’t appear to be the case in this one.

We have one of the form horses in the game right now on show in this session along with two of the heaviest scorers in the game who are both exciting to watch so we should be set for a decent afternoon inside Alexandra Palace.

Kenny Neyens vs Jamie Lewis (P)

Belgium                Country                 Wales

Unknown            Age                        26

Debut                   PDCWC Best       Last 32

N/A                        Last Year              Last 32

1                              Head to Head    0

We get going with the preliminary match as ever and this one should be one of the better ones in the round when the Belgian youngster Kenny Neyens takes on the Welsh player Jamie Lewis for the right to face Jonny Clayton later in the day.

Both these men have been regulars on the tour or the development tour so they play to a good level so we should be set for a decent level of contest in this one. If experience comes to the fore then Jamie Lewis will win but the fact he couldn’t qualify for this automatically highlights where his game is right now so Neyens may well have a chance here. Either way it is a preliminary match and I don’t fancy getting involved.

Alan Norris vs Kim Viljanen

45                           Age                        36

QF                          PDCWC Best       Last 64

Last 32                  Last Year              Last 64

0                              Head to Head    0

The opening main draw match of the six on the day sees the former quarter finalist Alan Norris taking on a Finnish player in Kim Viljanen who has picked up some good results on the tour and who has gained enough experience on the stage to be competitive here.

This is one of those matches where you look at the favourite and thing he’s a good thing and should win this easily but those of us who have watched Norris will know his matches rarely follow that path. I still think he’ll win purely on his scoring power but I expect Viljanen to be competitive here.

I like the idea of Norris winning the match but Viljanen has wins over Peter Wright and Chris Dobey on the European Tour this year so he can win a set before his demise.

Kyle Anderson vs Peter Jacques

30                           Age                        44

Last 32                  PDCWC Best       Debut

Withdrew            Last Year              N/A

0                              Head to Head    1

Kyle Anderson makes his return to the World Championship in the third match of the afternoon and I would imagine he will be eager to get going given that he was forced to miss out on this event last year due to visa issues. He takes on the debutant Peter Jacques here.

Jacques is fairly new to our screens but he carries a lot of winning momentum from 2017 into this match with him. He made the final of a Players Championship event back in February where Gary Anderson, Michael Smith and James Wade were among his victims and just last month he made the last 16 of the Players Championship Finals so he should be respected.

Admittedly this is a different kettle of fish entirely and Kyle Anderson is experienced on this stage and having hit a nine darter here he will have good memories of it. I’m fancying Jacques to be competitive enough in this match to keep Anderson honest and if he is then there should be enough time for the big hitting Australian to hit more than 4.5 180s in this one.

Jonny Clayton vs Kenny Neyens/Jamie Lewis

43                           Age

Last 32                  PDCWC Best

Last 32                  Last Year

N/A                        Head to Head    N/A

The final match of the afternoon will see the runner up from the last TV tournament in Jonny Clayton taking on the winner of the preliminary round match. I would expect Clayton to beat whoever it is who comes through although my gut tells me Neyens might cause him more issues than Lewis.

We don’t know who he is going to face though and until we do we can’t really offer up much from a betting standpoint so I’ll stick with just the two on the afternoon.
