It isn’t just all about the Test match as far as cricket in England is concerned on Friday as there is another set of fixtures in the Royal London One Day Cup which will take place up and down the country.
We are into the last week of the round robin phase of the tournament now so every match carries extra meaning for those trying to force their way into the knockout stage of the competition so we should get a good day of cricket. Sadly the Test does get the TV limelight so we’re reduced to county streams and social media to stay in touch with these games.
North Group
There is a big battle at Trent Bridge in the North Group as the defending champions Nottinghamshire, with Alex Hales in their squad for the first time, take on the pacesetters Worcestershire. That is the early game with the two later starts seeing Durham hosting Warwickshire and Northamptonshire welcoming Derbyshire to the County Ground.
South Group
It is a pretty big day in the South Group too not least because leaders Hampshire are not playing so the chasing pack have the chance to close the gap on them. There is a bunfight of sides on six points and two of them meet at Taunton where Somerset face Gloucestershire. Another one of those teams, Kent, host Surrey at Beckenham while Glamorgan host another of them in Sussex on what looks a pivotal day in the race for quarter final places.

Betting
I’ll go with a couple of bets over the course of the day. The first of them comes in the big match at Trent Bridge where I think we are going to see a lot of runs. Worcestershire showed just how many runs they have both in them and against them earlier in the week in that crazy match against Leicestershire while Nottinghamshire have already scored 400 in this competition and we saw them crank up 300 and nearly lose to Lancashire earlier in the tournament. These are two brilliant batting line ups and both have questions in the bowling department so I fancy we’ll see over 560.5 runs here.
Later in the day I think Derbyshire are a decent bet at 10/11 to see off Northamptonshire. Derbyshire are going along nicely in this competition and could well be two points better off had Matt Fisher not delivered a brutal blitz late on in the innings. Northamptonshire suffered a crushing loss against Durham in their last match on this ground which may well end up costing them a quarter final place. They are without Adam Rossington and Steven Crook here which gives their batting a lighter look too. Derbyshire are without Luis Reece which isn’t ideal but shoving Matt Critchley up the order might do them no harm. I’ll take the visitors here.
