2018 Royal London One Day Cup – Sunday 27th May Matches Betting Preview

There is another full round of matches in the Royal London One Day Cup on Sunday with four fixtures in each group as we head into the second half of the group stage of the competition. Each match is vital at this stage of the event.

Unfortunately with the Test still alive there is no televised action on Sunday so we have to rely on the county live streaming services and the social media updates to stay up with everything.

North Group

The leaders Derbyshire are not in action on Sunday which gives Nottinghamshire the chance to move to the top of the pile. They play host to Warwickshire at Trent Bridge. Worcestershire can also move to the summit if they can find a win against Lancashire at New Road while a Northamptonshire victory against Durham would sent them to six points as well. The other match in the group sees Leicestershire hosting Yorkshire at Grace Road.

South Group

Hampshire will be out to extend their lead in the South Group when they play host to Kent. It is kids in for a nothing at the Ageas Bowl so there should be a decent crowd in. Middlesex can move to the top of the table should Hampshire lose. The Seaxes head to Taunton to take on Somerset while Gloucestershire in third play host to Sussex. The other match in this group is a big one for Essex and Surrey as they do battle at Taunton.

Betting

There is a fair bit of rain around in the north on Sunday so I’ll stick to the South Group for a couple of bets which begin at Chelmsford. I’m not convinced by Essex I must admit. They started well at Middlesex but since then they would have shipped 300 against Gloucestershire, did so at Hampshire and let Somerset make 273 when they were 102/5. You can’t afford to do that against Surrey with their attack which actually isn’t as bad as it looked at Hampshire the other week. With Jason Roy back Surrey look a lot more settled and importantly Ben Foakes, Ollie Pope and Will Jacks all got runs last time out. Surrey are the better side man for man in my eyes and I’ll take them in this one.

Middlesex have now won three matches on the bounce and while I wasn’t overly impressed with them at Glamorgan the other night you can’t take that form away from them. Somerset had a good start to this tournament but have faded fast with their bowling getting carted and their top order, James Hildreth aside, struggling for partnerships. Not much is going wrong for Middlesex at the minute. They are winning the tight matches and the comfortable ones and at odds against they look a value bet here too.
