The latest round of Specsavers County Championship fixtures got underway on Thursday when Warwickshire took on Derbyshire and the other seven matches across the two divisions set off on their four day journey on Friday.
We have four matches in Division One and three more in Division Two and with the weather set fair we should get some results which is a good thing when it comes to betting. A number of these matches will carry live streams to allow us to keep up with all the action.
Division One
The big match of the round comes from Chelmsford where the champions Essex host Yorkshire in a rematch of the complete washout the two had to ensure on the opening week of the campaign. Somerset have got off to a wonderful start to the season and they head to Old Trafford to take on Lancashire while Nottinghamshire will look to build on their emphatic win last week when they host Hampshire at Trent Bridge. Surrey, buoyed by the signing of Virat Kohli later in the season, host a Worcestershire side who have looked out of their depth thus far.
Division Two
The pick of the matches in this division this week comes from Hove where Sussex take on Middlesex in a battle between two sides who will be eyeing up promotion at the end of the season. Durham will be out to put their opening match horror show behind them when they welcome Leicestershire to Chester-le-Street while Glamorgan take on Kent at Sophia Gardens.

Betting
I’ll go with one in each division here with Lancashire the focus of my attention in the first division. It is sometimes risky to take a side who are yet to win a match when they face a side who have won both their matches this season in Somerset but Somerset have ridden the form of Matt Renshaw and were he to fail I wonder what they will deliver with the bat. Lancashire have batted well in the majority of their innings and with Jimmy Anderson back in their ranks their bowling will be even stronger. The Red Rose dominated their encounter with Surrey last week but the weather denied them the chance to force a win. They’ll have no such issues here so I’ll back Lancashire to pick up a first win of the campaign.
Moving into Division Two and I’m going to take Middlesex in the big match. Ishant Sharma is missing for Sussex and I think he is a big loss. When you add in that Chris Jordan and Jofra Archer are at the IPL that is a huge amount of their attack they are without. I don’t think they are the strongest with the bat either. Middlesex have had a mixed start to the season and while it is a blow that Steven Finn and Toby Roland-Jones are out they have enough in their attack with Tom Helm, Tim Murtagh and James Harris among others. The big news is that Nick Gubbins is in for the first time this season which can make a real difference to their batting cause. With that in mind I like the Middlesex win here.
